Re: Live at Last...
@#%$ I'd love to buy the beers, but unforntunately I'am back in Michigan now.  I was a court ordered and not allowed back to the state without going to jail or finishing Straight.  If I would have realized back then, that I would have been out of jail alot sooner than I got out of Straight, I definitly would have picked jail. lol  It was kinda like from the movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"  With Jack Nicholson.  Jack thought it would be easier serving his time out in a psyc ward instead of prison and the next thing ya know the poor guy gets a lobotomy.  Well that kinda happened to me.  Except my lobotomy was a brainwashing.  Start out thinking "I'll just go along to get out of here", then the next thing ya know BAM!  Iam gone and some jackass flapping his arms around like a idiot and singing songs like Zippity Do Da is sitting in my chair. lol  I still get can't believe it.  Seems like it happened to another person or something.  Anyway.  I think maybe you have Harry mixed up with Phil Corben.  Phil was a short guy who liked to were those Cowboy boots.  Harry was a huge Colored guy. (sorry I don't know whats politically correct)  He was my newcomer when he first came in the program and super cool.  I heard he had gone on trainee after I left.  What about the Yahoo Instant Messenger?  Do you have it?  We can bullshit online with it.  Leave your email address if you want and I can send it to you.  Or if you already have it my ID is lestat49203

How about Tony Wheeldon, Tom Alsinio, Jim Henderson, Harry Douglas, Eileen Flemming, Mr Jerry Rushing, Mrs Boyd, Kristen Day, Heather Smith, Mike Rea, or Greg Corbin.  These are all people I remember to.  Do you know what happened to any of these people, or have any stories about them while you were there?  What was that about Joann?  I haven't heard about any of them since I left for Michigan.  Hey by the way do you have Yahoo Messenger?

Another Cincy survivor, cool!  Glad u found the place.  I was there from late May of 84 to Dec 85.  Sounds like we just missed each other.  Bet we know a lot of the same people though.  Was Joann Weaver still on staff while u were there?  How about Laura Crash or Nicki Upson?  Maybe Cathy Perisan, she was the group staff supervisor while I was there.  Was Gregory still serving those crappy dinners?  He was the caterer.  Well anyway hope to hear more from you.  Cincy84

Re: Growing Together of Lake Worth, Florida
I had to chuckle to myself when I read that part of your post that said you wanted to hear the success storyies from the 7 Steppers, or maybe Staff from Straight.  Sorry but I don't think there are very many that will contribute there success to Straight.  Thats what these guys have been trying to tell you all along.  Well if it make's you feel better hearing it from a 7 Stepped Staff member of the old program than here it goes.  I was molded and twisted by the program, just like everyone else is trying to describe.  We all were forced threw countless nights of sleep deprivation, so called postive peer pressure which consisted of restraining clients on the floor till they went along with the program's rules. etc. etc.  I never was able to take a good look at it till after I left staff to get married.  It was then I was able to sit back and take a good long look at what had actualy happened to me while I was there.  And what was happening to others still.  If you want an honest opinion from someone that was there, Straight, and Straight like programs have always been very abusive.  Read some of the stories on this board if you realy want to know what those place's are like.  I haven't seen one lie or exageration on it the whole time Ive been here.  Sorry I dont know of any better treatment for your boy.  I know its a hard place to be in.  I would suggest letting him take his lumps as a young adolesent, rather than put him in a place like that.  Everyone of us still ended up having to take our lumps anyway once we got out and had to start dealing with the real world again.  Don't send him to a mental prison to keep him from going to jail.   Cincy84
