« on: July 14, 2005, 12:41:00 AM »
Hey betsy, I wrote you a while ago a long ass email, and I attached a couple of pics of me my baby and my man,, but somewhere in the upload process my computer messed up, and I lost the mail. And then I didnt get up the will to do it again. I read your posts, and it sounds like your life has been full of crazy experiences, and I am sure you are so much the wiser for it. It really sounds like you are doing well, and im happy for you. Im alos kind of jealous that you live so close to so many of the girls. JK. I am happy for you that you are so positive!
Take care and write again

Mission Mountain School / Positive MMS emperience

I would love to go to therapy to deal with all this left over nonsense from my childhood. But i can't afford it. Do you think maybe John would like to pay for it? Its not really that urgent, since I am quite capable of functioning without it. But it still bothers me that I would even have to think about going to therapy to get over the therapeutic boarding school chapter in my life. It bothers me that they really could have helped me but they didn't. Not because they didn't want to, but because I don't think they had a clue how to. Other than to makke me think that I was an addict, and then giving me the 12 step solution. That made me feel like I was getting somewhere, i guess. Especially if I was really an addict. But I am not.
As to the whole mike and deb (not John and Deb) thing, I don't think everyone that has a complaint about MMS thinks  that they were responsible for their kid. so please dont generalize like that. I cerntainly feel sad about that. We used to play soccer with those kids. In any case, whatever view people have about it, I don't think they have that view because they have nothing better to do, or because they have problems that they are not dealing with in their life. I think it is plainly an opinion.
Ands about doing something about the school, if you want to be compassionate and understanding and all that, you should sign Kats petition.

There is no need to get aggressive about this subject, anonymous. Just in case you havent read the hundreds  of other postings on this site, everyone has a different opinion about what happened while wewere there and we are all entitled to it. The fact remains that kat does not feel like mms is jsutified in the actions that they took in our therapy. it could have been more professional, less personal, less cussing, yelling and belittling, etc. All that shit bothered me, to be honest. And I relate to a lot of what Kat has said in lots of her posts. A lot of times i know she gets singled out for being a basher, but really she is strong, and she knows how to deal withthat type of criticism. As to the whole getting a life thing, we all have lives. Do you not have a life because you also sit here and post on this site your opinions? NO, so dont tell people that they need to get a life because they do not share your opinion. Your opinion is yours and it reflects how you have dealt with what happened there. Good for you, I am glad that you did a lot of growing there. However, many of us did not actually start growing until we actually left there and let the stigma of "having to go the mms way" behind.

All who doubted or denied would be lost. To live a moral and honest life -- to keep your contracts, to take care of wife and child -- to make a happy home -- to be a good citizen, a patriot, a just and thoughtful man, was simply a respectable way of going to hell.

The problem with the "teen help" industry is that it's a bad "solution" in search of a problem.

betsy: this is carolina! I havent heard shit being talked about you, other than you had attitude while we were there, but I remember by the end of my stay there we were roommates in two cabins in a row, and you were actually nice. It took a little bickering between you and I before we got over it, but we did, and I actually have nice memories of you. I remember being sasd that you werent there when my mama came to see me, (she stayed in your bed, remember?). So, dont worry, i got over the bitchiness, as i amm glad to hear that you have. Im glad that you are doing well... I remember Julie too, I left before her mother passed, but Im glad that you guys have stayed cnnected. I live in Florida, I have a baby, i am engaged to Jason, my man. My baby is supercute, he is 6 months old, and he has five teeth! Anyway, good to hear from you. take care

When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.

Things like that don't only affect the person that its happening too, but everyone that cares for that person and is watching as they struggle with fifty pounds of extra weight that I didn't have. Luckily. Im sorry that you don't want to hear my opinion. Why does it matter when I was there?

Youre not the only one who had to carry rocks Katie. While I was there another girl had to carry them. For like, 9 or 10 months! she did get bruises. she did have to carry them, aside from the ones we all had to carry in our paniers. She did have to ski up garnet  through a blizard with them. And im sure it hurt a lot.

Even a little boy sees rottenness rewarded and good people smacked down. Unctuous rationalizations of this by otherwise sensible adults disgust little children.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. Mission Mountain School / Where would you be without MMS?
« on: May 09, 2005, 11:57:00 PM »
I needed calc, and did not get it. Instead I got some whack functions class that I had to teach to myself, and test my self on, and then i had a what pre calculus class that had more stuff about trig than calc. I also needed chemistry and physics, but instead I walked around MMS looking at deer shit, and trying to survey how many deer passed by there in an ecology course. There was also the environmental science classes, which were good, but were of no help to me when I actually got to college.

Mission Mountain School / it worked for me
« on: May 03, 2005, 05:08:00 PM »
I think people that dind't go to theschool were also affected by it...I don't think that their opinions are less valid just because they are outsiders. I mean, it has affected my family, my friends, they way that I live my life and relate to new people I meet. I think they have a different perception of what happened because they may have only seen us during home visits, graduations, etc. They may have only seen the results of what we went through. To me that is enough. I wish that more people that didn't go there would post about how they saw their daughter, or sister, or cousin change, for better or for worse. Don't discount just because they were not there.
