ITALY-USA: EVENING OF HONOUR FOR MONTEZEMOLO
(AGI) - Rome, July 29 - Fassino and Rutelli are in Boston to attend Kerry's convention. US ambassador Mel Sembler, appointed by President Bush, organised an evening in honour of Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the new president of Confindustria and of Fiat in Villa Taverna on Wednesday evening. There were 20 guests at the most in a decidedly informal atmosphere. Sembler gave a short speech and publicly paid homage to Montezemolo. Premier Silvio Berlusconi, deputy premier Gianfranco Fini and the cabinet's undersecretary Gianni Letta all attended the evening. The other guests were entrepreneurs and Italian and American bankers. Montezemolo thanked Sembler for having organised the evening. Italians politics and the US elections were not openly discussed, but some observers noticed a coincidence: Fassino and Rutelli at Kerry's, Berlusconi,Montezemolo, Fini and Letta at Bush's man in Italy. Perhaps Italy's two-party system runs via the White House?(AGI) .
