just finished escape from utopia: my 10 yrs in synanon by william olin

i thought it was pretty good - olin didn't bash synanon but catalouged his full experience there (he ultimately left the cult for moral reasons)...it was  definitely a creepy read because so much of it reminded me of my own experiences...i found the descriptions of in-game vs. out-of-game behaviour and attitudes to be particularly reminiscent of my time at a TBS.

Here's a good read about Synanon
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... ce&s=books
It's by Dave Mitchell, the publisher of a tiny
local paper that won a Pulitzer for exposing
Synanon despite threats, intimidation, and a
SLAPP suit.

In war, the stronger overcomes the weaker. In business, the stronger imparts strength to the weaker.
