Is that firsthand info? I don't want to bust you out, but if you can answer that w/o giving away too much, I'd apreciate it.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. or how about having to eat moldy food, or not eating anything at all as a punishment?  or ramen noodles for days on end.  this was also done during time on the shelf or "ledge."  i know a girl that had to stay on the ledge for days and was only allowed to come down to use the bathroom 1 or 2 times a day.  yes her food was spit in too.

Where is this "ledge" and what did she "DO" that was considered bad enough for type of punishment. Who directed her to the "ledge" and who directed that someone spit in her food?

My kid told me the same story, months before it ever appeared on this forum.

I appreciate your point of view.  I'm just saying that absolutely NOTHING has been substantiated.  Everything flying around on this website about abuse are allegations that are as yet completely unsubstantiated.  If in fact they are substantiated, I will respectfully appreciate the postings; I am merely sharing my own experience and that of my daughter.  I am not sharing allegations, accusations, hyperbole, or the like.  I am sharing my actual experience.  I didn't now Cheryl and Mark from Adam and Eve.  All I am saying is that they saved my daughter, and MY experience has been noting but positive.  Why would I change my mind over some hysteria and unsubstantiated accusations?  As I have previously stated, no program is for everyone.  I just think all the hype and hysteria should not be what people base their opinions on.  I am also not saying that abuse is okay.  We must realize, though, that there is a wide spectrum of behavior and perceptions.  All we can do is trust our instincts.  Taking allegations as fact, though, is - to me - premature and unnecessary - not to mention destructive.  There was a time when my daughter thought being grounded was abusive.  Parents are entitled to their views.  I'm just giving mine here.

Let the facts speak for themselves.  I do believe, though, that if any children were in real danger, the authorities would have taken swift action, and my daughter would want to leave there.  That is not the case.  The facts as they are REMAIN:  Some people love The Whitmore; some people do not.  It has worked miracles for our family.

We're just going to have to disagree on this one, Joyce.  You are entitled to your views.  I just don't happen to think that what the Sudweeks do is abusive.  I can only base my opinions on the outcome I have seen in my own daughter, and I respect your right to your opinion.

The program isn't for everyone.  Each parent has to do what he or she feels is right for the child.  I have made my decision, and you have made yours.  Nobody wants to be in our position in the first place.  I just don't think all the hysteria is warranted. You and I speak from our experience.  There's nothing wrong with that, is there?

I will continue to be grateful to Mark & Cheryl for what they have done for me and for Tori.

I wish you and your child well, and hopefully there is a place that will work for you and your family.

All the best,

Alana

I have seen the truth, and I have a daughter who has lost her death wish and found her spirit.

That's all I asked for, and that's what I got.

I'm just a grateful mom.

You are entitled to your opinion.  In the meantime, my child has been home several times and is completely open and honest.

She has not been abused.  That's all I can speak to.  I will not buy into the hysteria and unsubstantiated accusations.

We can only base our opinions on our own experience.  I wish you luck with yours.

That is of course, if the abuse is sunstantiated.  So far, no charges have been filed.  If the allegations are proved, I will be the first to understand if parents wig out.

In the meantime, my faith in the Sudweeks is unshaken.  Sorry.  No hysteria here.  Just a grateful mom.

As I have said, I am entitle to my opinion and you are entitled to yours.  I just wish everyone could find the peace that we have found, and we owe it to the Sudweeks.  If your child is in a program, I hope it works.  That's what this is all about.
