The Department of Children's Services is ending its contract with Magnolia Academy's wilderness program.
The Maury County camp has been used as a place where juveniles are sent after committing minor crimes.
DCS announced in a letter that the change is because of widespread allegations of child abuse by staff members at Magnolia.
No one at Magnolia Academy would talk to with NewsChannel 5 about the change, but State Senator Thelma Harper, a recent critic of DCS and Magnolia Academy, she is glad DCS will no longer send kids to the wilderness camp.
?They had to stand up outside and eat. They slept in a tent sometimes. They got a bath every three to five days. The living conditions were not rehabilitative,? said Harper.
There are 30 students and 45 staff members with the program. DCS will pull out the kids over the next month.
