[Linda Houghton is the Director for Emotional Growth Programs and Educational Consultants.]

Founded in October 2003, InCrisis is owned and operated by InCrisis, LLC, and is intended to provide Internet based analysis and screening services for parents and caretakers of teenage children who do not have timely or affordable access to qualified mental health care services. InCrisis maintains a formal collaboration with Mentor Research Institute, a non-profit organization.

Developed first for parents, the company?s website and resources allows professionals to review the computer assisted behavioral analyses for children ages 12-17. Parents can choose from the following reports; clinical screening, intervention options and risk analysis. The goal is to support parents, schools, health care agencies and health care professionals with mental health education and personalized information. InCrisis does not provide treatment, diagnostic, evaluation, assessment or emergency services.

InCrisis believes ?that no educational or information processing service can replace the value of a face-to-face assessment and treatment by a qualified professional.? The company offers an optional first step for parents who live in remote areas, cannot afford or locate appropriate screening services, and those who need to know what intervention and treatment options are available.

BEHAVIORAL PROFILING- The Video

From the InCrisis Website:
Who should use this service?
InCrisis was created for parents with children 12 to 17 years old who are at-risk because of behavioral, emotional or mental problems. InCrisis reports are designed for parents who are worried, can?t sleep and need answers now. InCrisis is a great resource for parents who?

*need to understand clinical and behavioral problems now
*need to understand intervention options
are not sure where to get help or what to say
*want to document their child's behavior & problems
*do not have quick access to qualified mental health care
*live in remote or isolated areas
*cannot afford mental health services
How much does it cost?

A comprehensive screening and intervention options report would normally cost between $500 to $1600. Because of a break through in information technology, InCrisis screening reports are available little or no cost. As an added assurance of quality, the purchaser may request a full no-fault refund if he or she is not satisfied with the experience or the services provided. InCrisis, LLC donates services through Mentor Research Institute to qualified communities including low income and those without ready access to health care.  InCrisis donates screening at no charge through charitable giving to Mentor Research Institute (a nonprofit 501c3).

What is the demand or this kind of service?
According to the US Census Report, there is an estimated 39.4 million children 12 to 17 year old in our country. In 2001, the Surgeon General estimated that nearly 1 out of 10 children have a diagnosable addictive or mental disorder that severely impairs their mental, emotional and social functioning. One out of 5 have a serious behavioral or emotional problem that interferes with peer, family and social activities. Of these children, an estimated two out of three will NOT be identified or get the help they need. The bottom line? An estimated 6.6 million emotionally disturbed and 2.6 million severely disturbed children are not getting the help they need in a timely manner. The reasons include a lack of screening, a scarcity of professionals who work with adolescents, an inability to find help and the cost. InCrisis reports are available at http://www.InCrisis.Org and are currently offered by InCrisis to Oregon residents.
"InCrisis has the ability to reach out and help millions of families across the America immediately, day or night, and at no cost."

How will it help people?
First, InCrisis reports are designed to help parents identify, describe and document their child?s history, behavior and level of risk. Secondly, InCrisis reports are designed to help parents work effectively with health care and education professionals. InCrisis does this by involving, educating and empowering parents to seek appropriate care while also protecting parent rights and responsibilities. At present, the number of youth problems is greater than the ability of our current health care and educational system's capacity to identify and respond to in a timely manner. InCrisis reports can help parents choose from and communicate with numerous professionals including counselors, clinical social workers, psychologists, family nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurse practitioners, neurologists, family physicians, psychiatrists and adolescent psychiatrists to find help for their child?s problems.

How does this service compare to what a real person can do?
The average InCrisis user spends around 1 ½ hours to complete the clinical youth screening questionnaire. Once the questionnaire is complete, InCrisis will generate a screening and intervention option report on your computer screen in a few seconds. It can take a  professional 4 to 12 hours to screen and write an equivalent report. A screening report created by a human being can take weeks to complete.
In addition, because nearly 4.5 children will not be identified or receive help for addictive or mental disorders, InCrisis screening procedures can provide a service that no real person may be providing for these children and families.

Is InCrisis the first service of this kind?
InCrisis reports represent the first and only comprehensive mental health screening tool available on the internet. InCrisis reports meet the highest ethical and professional standards for development and operation. The technology used to operate the system is groundbreaking.

InCrisis will conduct research that benefits society and allows us to ensure the quality and ongoing improvement of our services. We will provide services at no charge through non-profit partnership where it benefits the mission of Mentor Research Institute and well-being a children.

In my opinion, Michael Conner is no different than any of the other bottom feeders who have established themselves in the industry of making money off of the fears of parents. Here is a link to another post I made regarding InCrisis and Mentor Research Institute....
