My relationship with my mom absolutely sucks, she still practices that tough love approach.....and she still uses those tools to "keep me in line"....anyone else?

Mine is good. But I was close to them before I went to CEDU.  My Mom drank the Kool Aid, but my Dad always thought there was something funny tasting about it. After I split from CEDU,I was pretty much living with them but doing my own thing. They never did the tough love thing.  (They were good friends, not so great parents.) We never talked about CEDU, but recently, I unloaded about it, and I think my Mom resented that I fully illuminated her.  But no hard feelings. CEDU was recommended by what seemed like a qualified family therapist, it looked good on brochures, the staff were bullshit artists, and frankly, I needed help. I just didn't get any.

Mine's a lot better, but I have to admit I was definitely a shithead to them before BCA. There are a lot of things unsaid with my Mom because she believes so strongly that CEDU worked, but there's really no need to stir that shit up. That's probably the biggest fault in our relationship, but other than that it's smooth.

I have an awesome relationship with my parents.  I had a good relationship with my dad before Cedu but had issues with my mom which I spent a lot of time working on at Cedu.  My parents went thru the program with me and after Cedu we struggled with the first year especially when the tried to pull that tough love crap.  but they quickly learned that wasn't the best approach to take with me and since then we have been working toge4ther.  Cedu gave them more confidence in me to make my own decesions and that I did actually know what I was talking about.
but I am definately one of the lucky ones.

My relationship with my parents is great.  I don't give Cedu credit for improving our relationship though.  My parents agree with me that they were conned by the school into believing that is was a great place.  The relationship with my parents has improved because I grew up and my parents and I both  went through many years of counseling

It is complicated. They wanted to help me and regret the decision to send me away to a place that didn't tell them what was going on. It says a lot that they were bamboozled and dazzled by the marketing/consultant world. It says a lot too that they were bamboozled by the program at the time, and that I only confirmed it by the time 15 months or so had passed. It's a sorry thing to tell your whole family you'd be passed out on heroin in a public restroom tossing salads for nickle bags- If you didn't go to the program. I said that for two years so, they had bought in pretty bad, if you want to know the truth. That is a part of the complication.
