An animated version of #5 road?
Jordan listen to me. There are people who deal with serious psychiatric troubles who were in Elan. Some of these people, though undiagnosed as a direct result of Elan, are living very tormented lives. Nightmares, Post traumatic stress disorder. Ive read accounts of people waking in the middle of the night with cold sweats, urinating in thier beds. I hear people claim to suffer from severe depression and anxiety etc.
No we can likely never detirmine if these conditions are in fact a result of Elan, but the experience, although often exagerated, is not a pleasant one for many people.
I assumed the efforts to produce a documentary about Elan was intended to service those who were there. To document and publicize accurate truthful accounts of the experience. Though I have no interest in a "movie" about Elan, probobly because I was there and lived it, and dont care to revisit. I think much of the appeal to a movie would be the idea that the general public will get to hear first hand what Elan is or what Elan was. Theres a lot of benefit in just talking to people about a bad experience, a flic may have provided that relief in one way or another for many people. I hope to god most people have set aside the idea of monetary retribution or the pipedream of civil litigation for alledged crimes commited on them in Elan, and they have some sort of realistic goal in place to overcome whatever challenges they face in thier present lives.
But to even suggest a freakin cartoon is entirely insane, and a slap in the face to people who take the experience a little more seriously than that.
I have no urge to contribute to a movie, a story or anything that remotely publisizes Elan and my experience with it. Why?
Theres nothing at all that can be gained by reliving it. Ive pondered the question "what good will it do"? And the only answer I can come up with is "It might do those who produce it a little monetary good, but some starry eyed kid in Philly isnt going to change the past and make my life a little better to look back on"
Elan isnt a problem for us any more. The things that went on there went on in FEDERALLY funded programs too, and still do! (Uh Jail ring a bell?)
Is Elan unique in the fact that it simply charged you $35k to abuse you for a year?
An animation would be an insult to both the people who have come to terms with the Elan experience (many have struggled to do so) and those who have not. If any effort to publisize the Elan experience were to take place, dont you think it would have to incorporate at least the same amount of effort it has taken all of us to get over Elan? Can that be done in a fucking cartoon? I dont think so.
I look at myself now and wonder what would be different about me if I was not in Elan.
Can anyone really answer that question? Im not sure I would be any better or any worse. I am broke, but I somehow manage to pay my bills, more importantly I am happy with or without money. I am divorced but I have many loving freinds. I have been diagnosed as bipolar, but you'll never see me use it as a crutch. I have a disease that will likely kill me withing 10 years, but am I going to lay down and die because of it?
I was in Elan. I lived through a microholocaust there. I dont consider Elan a part of who I am...Maybe I am a part of what Elan was or is...but its not in me.
Your suggestion to do an animated flic about Elan is insulting. There is no way I can even fathom the seriousness the issue deserves if it is going to be addressed and I find the mere suggestion offensive, absurd, and purely moronic.
You set your sites on a media presentation of Elan. You appear to be a little defeated, insecure and embarassed that it has not developed into your vision. Dont change your damn vision to get your fucking point across, do what you set out to do, or fucking do something else!
If I had any interest at all in an Elan story, Id get it done and I could sell it to a fucking nazi symapathyzer if I had to.
You're young, you have an attitude, you are most certainly wet behind the ears. Dont think like Jordan, think like a secure, wise, successful person who has something to say that people want to hear. Or shut the hell up..."honey"
