28th Street Drive-In
« on: July 06, 2002, 04:19:00 PM »
One of the coolest things about being a 7 stepper from the St. Pete Straight was the 28th Street Drive-In.  If you had a buck fifty, and money for snacks, it was the place to go after the meetings.  We used to haul lawn chairs out of the trunk of the car, or throw a towel on the hood and lean back against the windshield.  It was a great place to break the ice with the girls without
facing the wrath of the "nark" 5th phasers and staff trainees who preferered the wussy air-conditioned theatres at the local malls.
I'll never forget seeing "Phantasm" there for the first time and all the girls being grossed out when the silver floating ball hit that dude in the forehead and blood was gushing out in jets.  Ever the jerk, I just had to scream out, "Damn, I coulda had a V-8!!!"
