Actually, I would be interested in finding out how many people did badly in Elan and were successful in the REAL world, and how many did good in Elan and bad afterwards.

Not everybody that wasn't a drug addict was a sexual deviant, and many people were sent there for stupid things like disobeying their parents. There were very few drug addicts there, I don't know if this person was there when Elan took adults, but most people there were too young to develop alcohol or drug addictions. Most of the people who went to Elan have probably not even SEEN an addict in real life (watching Trainspotting does not count). Many people there were "recreational" users or were experimenting, but all these stupid placements including Elan have decided everyone's an addict. Kids have been being sent away for smoking weed and getting drunk twice. We have enough real substance abuse problems without these people that think they're alcoholics/addicts.

I agree with you to a certain degree, but I must say there were ppl there that were into serious shit. I know I was one of them, but not as serious as the ones who didn't even have a family to stand by them. We cannot generalize, we each had our own reasons to be there, but I see your point: there were ppl that were sent there that had problems just like any average teenager.

   Peace!

You say you were sent to elan for disobeying your parents. Just a little misbehaving? And you were sent to me? By who,not my buddy Dr.Schwartz. I'm afraid you suffer from acute stupidity and are also a lost cause.

It's pointless to argue with this troll. His own messages reveal his own "acute stupidness". I'd say ignore IT.

I do remember some people there for some serious problems, but not too many, and I'm not going to embarrass them and put their names here. Many people were not at Elan for serious things. I said that when I left Elan, I planned to drink, and people acted like it was a big deal, just because everyone had to be so fake in there. And Elan refused to believe that I didn't have a drug problem or alcohol problem. And in order to come back and graduate, I had to be sober the entire time, even though I was starting college, and  I was only a recreational user before coming to Elan. Obviously, I just told them I was sober even though I wasn't, and they somehow found out, so I didn't get to go back, and my mother was mad.

Elaborating on this, I think I was in a different house than you, so maybe different types of people got in different houses. I was in 8, and half the time I was wondering why most of the people were even there!

Things used to get blown out of proportion in Elan. I also think that some parents just didn't know how to deal with their kids' problems, leading them to drastic solutions, such as Elan. I still don't undestand their procedures as to selecting the apropriate house for each resident. I know that in 7, there were some ppl that really needed help. I've learned much about ppl and their realities just by sitting in some groups. I don't agree with their therapeutic methodology, but not everything that came out of those groups were bad.

   Peace!

You do not understand my motives. I do not want to mess with anyone young or old. All I have ever done is try to help people,it is my lifes work.A mighty profitable one at that. You do not have to thank me. Seeing how well you are doing is reward enough. Keep up the good work druggies
