It's good to see promoters of drug testing being confronted with their huge financial stake in drug testing laws.Robert L. Dupont and Peter Bensinger's financial gain from their drug testing business should always be mentioned when these evil SOBs crawl out from under their rocks.PISSPOT DUPONTRobert L. Dupont (former drug czar & former head of NIDA) was and probably still is a partner in one of the world's largest urine testing companies. (Bensinger, Dupont & Associates - Specializing in problems of addiction in the workplace.)After promoting mandatory drug testing for years in government and making compulsory drug tests part of many Federal contracts and forcing states to do extensive drug testing, DuPont joined Carlton Turner (former drug czar) and Peter Bensinger (former head of NIDA) in contracting as advisors to 250 of the largest corporations to corner the drug testing market. This millions they make from drug testing should always be mentioned whenever Robert L Dupont, Carlton Turner and Peter Bensinger shoot off their lying mouths. When DuPont and these clowns expose themselves publicly, let the world know that they are in drug testing for the money, not public welfare.Even if DuPont sold his stock in Bensinger, Dupont & Associates, that doesn't get him off the hook.DuPont was a major force in making drug testing an official policy with the specific intent of using the legislation to make huge profits which he did. Whether DuPont still owns a share in the business is irrelevant. If he sold out he made millions.A solid rebuttal to anything DuPont says about drugs comes with this simple accusation of profiteering- "DuPont only says that because he's making millions of dollars in his urine testing business. That's right folks DuPont here is a leading shareholder in Bensinger, Dupont & Associates the world's largest drug testing company.Robert DuPont lies about drugs to make money."Carlton Turner & ParaquatPrior to going into the urine smelling business, DuPont's partner Carlton Turner tried to market a phony paraquat testing kit. However, High Times refused to advertise it because it wouldn't work. No doubt Turner was one of the shrill voices calling for more and more paraquat spraying until he found out he couldn't sell his fraudulant kits. The market failure of paraquat testing kits may have been the real reason for abandoning paraquat spraying. Who would have thought that drug testing would generate so much money for the testing companies? Robert Dupont (former head of NIDA), Peter Bensinger (former head of the DEA) and Carlton Turner (former drug czar), that's who?Drug prohibition is an exercise in hypocrisy, immorality and unrestrained greed. All of the leading drug crusaders are in it for the money or the power the drug war gives them.********************************************From: NORML Date: Mon, 29 Mar 2004To: Lennice Werth ,Thanks for the update from Atlanta.> Afterwards, I spoke with Dr. Dupont and he stated that he doesn't make a dime> on drug testing.Surprise?! DuPont's lying (again).I confronted this lie the last time I debated DuPont's business partner andformer DEA administrator Peter Bensinger. In previous debates at SMU (TX)and St. Louis Univ., Bensinger lamely rebutted student's correct accusationsthat he profits from drug prohibition's status quo, especially in the formdrug testing. He declares, with a stern voice, that 'DuPont and he do notmake a dime off drug testing!"It is good to know, like the current White House, that they're all readingfrom the same script.Having researched Bensinger and DuPont for over 10 years I knew he waslying. In my immediate rebuttal, I told the audience that DuPont, Bensingerand Associates most certainly profit from drug testing as they receive a feefrom the many thousands of annual referrals of their corporate clients'employees to drug testing companies. Peter denied they received a fee.IF that were true, I accused him of being an incompetent businessman. After the St. Louis debate, I told Peter if he lies again about his profitmotives in any future debate or symposium, like the rest of the typicalbludgeoning he receives from me (and other reformers) in a debate, I'llpublically prove to the audience that he's lying. He scoffed.I didn't have to wait too long...a few months later at Kansas State Univ. wedebated again. A student rightly accused Bensinger of being a profiteer inthe drug war--especially his loooong involvement in the drug testingbusiness.Peter hesitated to answer, looked at me, hesitated some more and proceededto lie to beat the band. After he concluded his stream of lies, in a 'Perry Mason' moment, I producedfor public review a bill from DuPont, Bensinger and Assoc. to a localChicago-area drug testing company for services rendered.I had an extra copy available for Peter to review on stage and asked if herecognized the form. He acknowledged that the form was from his company, hebegan to stammer terribly and tried to explain away his blatant lie to theaudience, who began to loudly BOO him off the stage.Peter and I got into a 'confrontation' backstage re, amongst other things, his inability to tell the truth about what DuPont and he are all about =making money off prohibition! To date, he's not accepted numerous and lucrative ($3,000 - $5,000/debate)invitations to again debate 'drug policy' in public. In Bensinger's case, apparently the 'truth' was too much for him...Time willtell if DuPont is any better.I suspect not.Regards,-Allen St. Pierre NORML Foundation
