Teen help is bullshit

I firmly believe that parents shouldn't have the right to send teens to these places. Most of these kids are sent for stupid reasons, like their parents don't like their friends, the music they listen to, the way they dress, or they think they're on the computer too much. Their rights and dignity are taken from them and they're made to understand that their lives aren't their own.

Teens should be allowed to leave their parents and go live with their friends so the parent/teen conflicts don't errupt to the point where parents want to lock them up. Let both sides part on good terms.

ok.  sometime a separation is the only thing . .
but can they leave and be with family, someone they (parent) trusts.
can mom and dad go to therapy w/him her and still talk and work out issues, so many facts and circumstances, too many to make a broak statement
can child treat mom and dad w/at least as much respect as (friends house, aunt & uncle, grama grandpa?)
can they both miss each other so much and remember that they do truly love each other and are willing to "make good", "try". . .
under what circumstance, anon?

also, the parents you refer to should consider something from my other recent post :

one final thing, my son said to me this week, "we are the ones who will determine what happens for the next hundred years"
meaning his generation. his is soon to be 17.

(think about technology, genetic engineering, stem cell research, choosing hair color, eye color, eliminating genetic defects/health problems, curing aids, cancer, DNA codes, children being tried as adults, reversal of roe vs wade, personal freedom, the patriot act , children being tried as adults, gulags, mental vs thinking "out of the box", etc, etc.)

yep. i had to agree with him on that.
to Nate:

they have alot. society, we have to catch up

Yeah, a lot has changed. I sort of blame it all in the New Deal.

First, they wanted laws to protect children from abusive labour conditions. Now a kid can't bag groceries or mow lawns w/o hard-to-come-by special permission from the schoolpeople.

We were acting on the best of intentions when we made public education broadly available and virtually compulsory for all who can't afford private school. But we'd forgotten Thomas Hodgskin's observation; "Men had better be without education than be educated by their rulers."

We thought we were doing future generations a huge favor by pushing the age of majority up and up so that, now, a kid can be a kid till they're easily old enough to have toddlers of their own. So now we have frustrated, contantly insulted and thoroughly confused young adults who's only way to keep on good terms w/ the authorities is to go along and pretend to be pre-pubescent children till they reach the age of permission to think and act independently.

I want the Old Deal back!

Here's freedom to him who would read;

Here's freedom to him who would write;

None ever feared that the truth should be heard,

But them that the truth would indict.

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will.
I sure could use a vacation from this

Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.

Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car.

It's a
Bullshit three ring circus sideshow of
Freaks

Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call LA
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.
Any fucking time. Any fucking day.
Learn to swim, I'll see you down in Arizona bay.

Some say a comet will fall from the sky.
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves.
Followed by faultlines that cannot sit still.
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits.

Some say the end is near.
Some say we'll see armageddon soon.
I certainly hope we will cuz
I sure could use a vacation from this

Silly shit, stupid shit...

One great big festering neon distraction,
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied.

Learn to swim.

Mom's gonna fix it all soon.
Mom's comin' round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Learn to swim.

Fuck L Ron Hubbard and
Fuck all his clones.
Fuck all those gun-toting
Hip gangster wannabes.

Learn to swim.

Fuck retro anything.
Fuck your tattoos.
Fuck all you junkies and
Fuck your short memory.

Learn to swim.

Fuck smiley glad-hands
With hidden agendas.
Fuck these dysfunctional,
Insecure actresses.

Learn to swim.

Cuz I'm praying for rain
And I'm praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way.
I wanna watch it all go down.
Mom please flush it all away.
I wanna watch it go right in and down.
I wanna watch it go right in.
Watch you flush it all away.

Time to bring it down again.
Don't just call me pessimist.
Try and read between the lines.

I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change, my friend.

I wanna see it all come down.
suck it down.
flush it down.

Stick your arm for some real fun
So your sickness weighs a ton
And God\'s name is smack for some
