What happened when the buildings closed?
Were any of you there?
Did they just let everyone go?
I have not been able to locate anyone that was there upon closing

In Dallas (Irving) people were hugging and cring in the parking lot.
Kinda like when the jury reads the verdict "Not Guilty"

The Straightlings all cried and demanded to be taken to New Jersey so that they could all enroll in KIDS and get the ToughLove they knew they needed.

Heard a story about Dallas Straight when they closed the Las Colinas building....

Story was that everyone got up and just walked.  And there was this misbehavior girl who walked too, and then as everyone was walking down the street, it occurred to her that she was conforming with everyone else.  So she turned around and walked back to group and sat up in a blue chair and waited for staff to walk in.  When staff finally did come through she started motivating.  Since she was the only one who was working the program, they commenced her in a small ceremony with her parents.  Thus she was the last person who commenced Dallas Straight.

I heard this story in 1992 and may have some of it wrong...

Ooops that was me... *points up at 1st post.

Hi Kelly I thought it was you that told me that..
Odd that I still have yet to find anyone that was actually there..I know 2 staffers and they werent there..and countless clients...
Its like during that lastyear the7y fired and commenced everyone and then the Mystery staff/clients came in for the last stretch..

 Its odd and creepy..
I mean did they just let everyone go one day..
all sitting in group and Mrs Petito walks up and says "Ok Fuck It, You can go." ??
Or did the inspectors storm in with assault rifles?
Or did they transfer them ?

If you can confirm that story , Kelley, thats a fitting and interesting end to Dallas Straight.
I know when I left in 1989 I didnt wanna see any Straight people...did not wanna talk about it..And the times I did run into Straight folk I did the Hi, Bye scurry off...
Was just too wierd and I always had that ...they are coming to take me back feeling..

 :scared:

I'm thinking that there was a window that broke, someone broke it or something and people walked out the broken window.  Like parents were pulling there kids so there weren't many kids left.

The person I got the story from was an ex-staffer (executive staff) who was there at the time... Wes Kitchens.  I worked with him in Carrolton at a place called FirStep and then later on at Sundown Ranch in Canton.

Heath Dunkin also worked with me at FirStep, I tend to feel that he was on staff at Straight when it closed.

But again, this is all coming from memories I have stashed in the back of my head from 1992.  I've been through 3 husbands since then, and a ton of pot... so my thoughts and memories tend to blend amongst themselves....
