Missing red panties...
« on: March 25, 2005, 02:54:00 PM »
I would just like to say that all of the posts on that other thread (made by me) and the one here concerning Sue's panties were complete nonsense and utter sillyness. I didn't think then that the person posting as "Sue Scheff" was really Sue Scheff anyway. (Now it is quite obvious that I was correct in this assumption.) I am happily married and have no desire to seek out Sue or her panties, lol. My idea to goof around in this manner was mine alone, and not suggested to me by anyone.

Please pardon my absurd trolling.

Thank you.

Ok, folks. In case anyone is wondering what happened to the red panties posts, here's the story.

Sue was not at all amused w/ those posts. I can't say I blame her, either. I don't particularly enjoy it when people trash me in similar fashion. However, it really isn't up to me to decide what is and is not proper conduct or legitimate communication around here.

But I have good reason to believe that she was so upset by this that she was willing to litigate. So then I figured out who posted those messages and asked him whether or not he wanted me to delete them. He did, and so they're gone, and hopefully this will put an end to the issue for good and all.

For future reference, let me reiterate and clarify my policy on controling the content here. I try not to put myself in the middle of any dispute if at all possible, except by way of participation in public discussion. In that case, I'm responsible for what I write.

In most cases, all I have to do when someone is upset over what someone has posted here is to let the author know and suggest that they work it out. If it's an anon post and the author wants it changed or deleted, I'll do that. Done it many times. But it really is up to the author whether or not the content in question is worth fighting for.

The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. ... All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

Okay, so all an anonymous author needs to do is contact you, ask you to delete it, and you will, huh? Unless you don't want to, is that it? So you'll bend the non-rules when it suits your fancy. Hmm... Where have I seen that mentality before?

No, you misunderstand. Or you're being obtuse. If I can be pretty sure that the person making the request is actually the author, it doesn't matter to me what the content is, whether I agree w/ it or not or even if I understand it. If I'm pretty sure they own it, it's not my call.

Now, why would I give a care about the particular content in question anyway? I didn't delete this one
http://fornits.com/wwf/viewtopic.php?to ... t=50#90296

or these
http://fornits.com/wwf/search.php?term= ... mit=Search (some of which are, far and away, more offensive and frightening than anything we're talking about here)

Sadly, sometimes I'm asked to delete content that I really, really don't want to delete. Anyone remember the manic, but brilliant, rantings of ABush? Well that person contacted me one day and asked that I commit literary homocide in his behalf. Not that he couldn't have done it himself, he could have as he was logged in when he posted. But he had made so many posts that it would have taken considerable time, whereas I could do it pretty easily. I hated to do it, but he was the author and so he owned the work and he wanted it gone, and so I did. Though tempted, I didn't even save a copy for myself. Wouldn't have been right, ya know?

Bottom line, I did not make the decision to delete this content. I just let the author know that the other person was very upset and might sue him. He made the decision to retract, apologize and have the offensive content deleted. I'd do the same for you or anybody.

I believe that human beings arrive on this Earth wanting to know absolutely everything, and the best thing we can do as parents is to get out of the way -- just be there to let them know what opportunities are there

Ginger ,

Ask this individual why she doesnt delete the information and comments she has posted on her website.   All is fair for one as for the other.

As well you may sue whom ever you choose. It still wont get you respected.

I don't even make policy for people who use my server, let alone for anyone else who runs a website.

It is criminal to steal a purse. It is daring to steal a fortune. It is a mark of greatness to steal a crown. The blame diminishes as the guilt increases
