Cherish America, who are you? Since joining a few days ago, you are averaging 8.7 posts a day. Seems like you have a lot to say on virtually all topics, which is great, but why conceal your identity?

Hard to believe that someone who is anonymous wants to know the identity of a registerd user.  Just don't want my actual name out there anonymous. I'm sure you, of all people would understand.

Yes, Cherish America, now that I think about it, I can see why you would NOT want your name "out there".  You have some good ideas, but your fact-checking is sloppy which makes me wonder if you are just throwing poo-poo out there to see what sticks on the wall?

I had some time last night while overnighting in Phoenix to have a few go arounds with Cherish.  I'm a former WWASPS mom and was turned on to this site by a friend there.  I thought I'd have some input, but, after a little reading, have an idea here.  I don't believe Cherish is associated with PURE.  After reading the beyond business site, it looks like this person COULD be Angela.  It makes sense to me.  However, when Cherish immediately responded with an adamant NO that she wasn't involved with PURE, within a couple of minutes, after posting the site that showed the court documents wwasps vs pure, I jumped to a conclusion.  The issue for me is that both Cherish and Angela have posted inaccuracies that to the untrained eye, look believable.  Just because someone has a web site, doesn't mean it's true.  I have no doubt she is on a mission and if she was abused, she will have her day in court.

As for those  200 plus signatures for Provo, Can't say.  I'm not at all familiar with this program and can't say if the names are real or fictitious.

For those that are against emotional growth programs, they are both not helping your cause. Just like what I read on ISAC.

What makes you think that?  The abuse in all these institutions takes place behind closed doors.  The only people present are the perpetrators and the victims.  The latter are discretited as lying, manipulative, disturbed and, possibly, mentally ill by virtue of even being there.  Combine that with isolation, regulators who don't regulate and law enforcement officers who won't investigate and the chances of anyone "having their day in court", let alone winning, are very slim indeed.  You don't see Mel Sembler in jail do you?

Isolation is not an effective technique for true "emotional growth"---unless the emotions you're talking about are anxiety and traumatic stress.

Isolation is, in fact, the main technique used to break Prisoners of War when the rules don't allow you pull fingers and use cattle prods.

Isolation will eventually break virtually any human, because humans are social animals who *need* contact with other humans.

Isolation of minors for more than a day at a time, and isolating them from the outside world, is terrible emotional abuse and should be illegal.

Even "grounded" kids go to school or certain scheduled activities.  And they're right with their own families.  And I've never heard of a grounded kid who couldn't write and mail a letter, or read his/her own mail.

Isolation is not "emotional growth."  It's abuse.

If you *truly* want to foster the emotional growth of these children, remove the isolation, remove the censorship of incoming and outgoing mail.

If you want to foster emotional growth, encourage the kids to have two or three pen pals apiece and to write to them regularly.

Letter writing has some of the therapeutic effect of actual talk therapy.  Therapists get the client to talk about herself by using the client's need to fill silences.  In a letter, there's only so much mileage you can get out of asking the other person questions.  You soon have to talk about yourself and what's going on with your life.

Some of these kids' biggest problems is they don't connect with other people well enough to build empathic links, and they're shut away inside themselves too much---so they "numb out" what's going on in their lives.

The Programs make that worse, not better.  All they do is teach the kids to get adept at wearing a mask that will fool the staff *or* dissociate a program-idealized personality on top of their own--while further damaging the true self under the true personality.

You want these kids *more* connected and involved in the world, not less.

Programs for emotional growth are like trying to cure an alcoholic by feeding him whiskey.
