"Are you an attorney?"
Yes
"Are you trying to sell your services?"
No
"Why do you keep harping on "an attorney who has actually gone to law school and passed the bar"?"
Because all the people giving her very very bad advice aren't "an attorney who has actually gone to law school and passed the bar" and that advice (if she were to follow it) will ruin her life.
"There is something very wrong with our system,
when a person can be dragged into a lengthy and expensive legal battle on the whim of another. The plantiff should be required to prove there is merit to her accusations before filing suit. This would prevent many unnecessary suits."
I'm not sure I dissagree with you. A plaintiff DOES have to swear (or thier attorney on thier behalf) that thier case has merit when they file. The problem with the system is a defense to a suit that has merit is very expensive and a defense to a with less merit is just as expensive.
"And for the record. I despise attorneys, having been screwed by a couple. They, like everyone else, should get paid after they have provided services. Too many times they take the retainer, and do nothing. Unhappy? Well then you hire another attorney to sue the first one who screwed you. What a racket."
I'm sorry you feel that way. I agree that some lawers have hurt the reputation of the profession. I can't do anything about that. Most lawyers (at least the several thousand I have met are really quite ethical. The system uis designed so that you really need a lawyer in a situation. Experience has taught me that we are really very unlikely to change the system but the system will change us if it chooses to. Ginger needs to work within this system and sadly, that will cost her a lot money.
