I can see that the regular posters here are hostile towards treatment centers, and I know that you have good reasons for your strong feelings. I feel I must say that I don't advocate sending your teenager anywhere because of teenage rebellion and wild behavior, but when your daughter is going to kill herself any minute, or is so disturbed by things that may have happened to her that she cannot function, and you, as a parent, are looking for help and healing for your daughter and your family...there are, indeed, reputable places staffed by ethical and skilled people that can help. New Haven is one of those places and I simply say that, should you be a parent in that situation, you should check it out for yourself. Research it, investigate it, visit it and decide for yourself.

hi new haven. I am a survivor of some of the homes discussed on this board. The rtc.s i was in have been open for 50 years, very expensive, highly regarded, and practice round the clock torture of their detainees.

You will not find out anything by visiting the institution as my parents visited my institution and saw nothing alarming. These places are cults, and like scientology, they know how to hide the bodies.

Torturing a kid, well anyone, will lead them to bond with their torturer. This truism is the basis of the interrogation process of suspected "terrorists" in Guantanamo Bay and Abu garhib. Cumulative torture, isolation, and psychological, terror, induction of shame and guilt.

At this point I don't even care anymore, but if you really are a mother and don't want to kill your kid. get her out. apologize. get her a lawyer through which she can empower herself, and stop murdering her.

When i would speak to my parents from the private prison, i would tell them how much i loved them and how much i had learned from this experience. I was brainwashed. Just like Elizabeth smart was brainwashed into telling investigating police that she was her abductors wife and she loved him.

If you think being a member of natsap means something good you should investigate the programs that are on natsap. then match up how many are on caica's, heal's and isac's list of very abusive programs. The most horrifying program ever Elan, which literally beats kids to DEATH and calls the beating therapy is listed. Watch the gao hearing with the spokeman for natsap who admitted  her org did nothing, not protect  kids or enforce it's guidelines, or even keep lists of the times its members self reported breaking its guidelines, or even set clear guidelines. NATSAPS official poisition was to challenge a fed act tht would make it ilegal to abuse kids, or hold them indefinitely without access to due process, or agencies that prevent abuse.

if u r a real parent, which i doubt,  think about what is being told to you. What’s important isn’t feeling your kid is safe, or trusting in the program, but what your kid has to deal with now that they've been abducted, imprisoned, & are dealing with what REALLY is done to you when youre locked up, away from watchful eyes.

I'm sooooo lucky that I didn't go there for boarding school. This was one of the places we toured when we were searching for a normal boarding school that helps kids with academic needs, and we were NOT searching for therapeutic options. Fact of the matter is that I didn't need such placement anymore as they were just miss leading us by their type of "one size fits all" marketing practice which is what these programs are well known for. After we toured the place, I saw all the warning signs that this was not a real school. And then several years later I heard that this was the place we looked at in Utah and I heard several abuse stories coming from Utah programs.

I would like to contact several education consultants that they don't recommend ANY for-profit therapeutic school especially in Utah! They are even recommending these schools to parents even if their LD and ADHD kid is not even troubled. If I went there, I would NOT be at the University I am at right now because the rest of my High School years would have been ruined! If this happened I would probably bee dead right now.

I'm so thankful I turned away from it when I had the chance because it was like a mirror image of another therapeutic school that lied to me and my family.

For owners of such programs, we celebrate your lives being destroyed. Because you destroyed theirs...

Seems people have many different ideas here. Why is it that so many people are threatening with law suits? The only people doing so are the gutless who can't stand up for themselves in real life.
