In Denmark it doesn't matter if the court clear your name
« on: May 11, 2012, 01:06:55 AM »
A young mother known in the media for her partipation in the Danish version of "Teen moms" was arrested and charged for having inflicted violence against her youngest child  - baby only a few months old.

She spent 7 month in jail while the police investigated. Due to use of very few resources the investigation was very slow but in Denmark the courts often allow the police almost a year to investigate even the most simpel cases.

She was cleared of the charges but now she cannot get her children back because the social services doesn't respect the courts in general. The Danish laws allows the social services to operate largely outside the normal justice system. If Danish parent lose their children to the social services they have to go through two inside court systems before they can appeal to the normal court system. It means that the children can spent over a year in foster care before lawyers and judges get to argument in court.

For Stine from the Danish TV-documentary it has meant that her children no longer see her as their mother but only the foster parents.

For more information see this article from the Danish newspaper BT: Stine from young mothers: I have lost my children
