    • Secret Prisons for Teens
Jubilee youth Ranch in Washington will be on Fornits Wiki
« on: July 09, 2011, 02:01:25 AM »
Jubilee Youth Ranch is shown in the MTV TV-show "True Life" where two teenagers are sent to this program and Anasazi Wilderness.

When the exact record is on the wiki the text in the media section will be:

Quote
The program was featured in the MTV show "True Life - I'm being sent away by my parents" where 14 year old Kyle successfully fought the program and gained his freedom (True Life: ‘I'm Being Sent Away By My Parents’, MTV USA). However due to his experience with the negative peer group at the ranch the learned behaviors caused his problems to increase and he ended up in state custody.

In the show the boy visited the program and he had to decide to come there. He wasn't dragged to the program, but there was a lot of pressure from the mother. They use only disiplinary tool. The boys have to run up a hill similary to the 1965 movie called "The hill" and the boys can be sent up the hill for basically everything make them surrender to the program in the end unless they are smart as Kyle who cut the wires of the security cameras which left the program administration to offer him his freedom after some talks with his mother.

What is else to know about this program?

What is Jubilee?

In June of 1995, Jubilee was born; an experienced staff along with six graduates of a residential program came and started a new home for troubled teens.[/list]
I wonder which residential program those six graduates came from. No staff are listed on Jubilee's website.

From the equivalent of their "About Us" page:

    -------------- • -------------- • --------------

    What Is Jubilee?

    Mission Statement
Providing a Christ-centered community where youth can find a new beginnings!

    Vision Statement
The Biblical vision of Jubilee focuses on the outsider, the weak, the defenseless, the marginalized, the outcast, and those young men who struggle in life's journey. Jubilee brings in those young men who need a second chance and gives them the opportunity and tools for a successful comeback.

The goal of Jubilee is to help those that are struggling and are on the outside or cast out to bring them into a community where they can grow in every area of their life and gradually move away from dependency to relative stability as contributing members of their families and the communities where they live.

Jubilee is and investment restoring wholeness to young men with broken lives, broken relationships, with God, self and others.

    Principals of Operation

    • Teaching and modeling that the divine image of God is within all human beings. As image bearers of God we will strive to treat others and ourselves in such a way that honors each person's unique expression of the character of God.
    • Putting Christ first in all we do.
    • Building a staff that is intentionally diverse in the areas of race, gender, socio-economics, and denominational affiliation within the Christian tradition in order to practice God's reconciling love with one another, and become better equipped to reach out to a diverse and often excluded population.
    • Evoking the gifts and talents of each member, on which authority and responsibility are based, in order to carry out the corporate call among hurting youth and build up the body of Christ.
    • Seeking to become effective stewards of the use of money and power in our lives.

      History of Jubilee
Jubilee was founded In 1995 when a group of individuals responding to the need to serve God through serving struggling teens was formed. The mission group felt God calling them to reach out to hurting families through the development of a comprehensive ministry in the State of Washington.

In June of 1995, Jubilee was born; an experienced staff along with six graduates of a residential program came and started a new home for troubled teens. Around this nucleus, other staff and young people were slowly invited to join, while new facilities were being prepared to house both a boarding school and ranch. Jubilee had eight graduates its first year, and over half went on to college.

By June of 1997, separate dormitories for young men and women (each for as many as 50 students), the cafeteria, the administration building (which houses the school and church) and new staff homes were completed. By August, Jubilee had 26 residents, and we are continuing to add youth. Jubilee added to its staff a new pastor and executive director, counseling director, and principal. Additional staff was also added, allowing Jubilee to add a cattle operation, horses, and many other small animals.

Working with young men and their issues is the constant thread in the lives of those who are involved with Jubilee Fellowship. Sharing from their own struggles as young people and as families, the Jubilee staff is offering a blessing to others, in hopes that it will foster healing and wholeness, meaning and connectedness to God and a diverse community of people who know how to love and work with one another in Jesus' name.

Jubilee Fellowship currently operates two Christian based programs for struggling adolescents, the Jubilee Youth Ranch and Jubilee Christian School and Academy (JCSA), with students of the Ranch meeting their academic needs through JCSA.

Youth who would most benefit at Jubilee Ranch and Academy are those who have experienced personal, family or educational difficulties, but have not yet become involved heavily in drugs/alcohol or other related activities. However, many students have come from informal diversion programs within the juvenile system. Many of the students’ families are blended, (step-father, step-mother, ect.)and are having confusing relationship difficulties. Jubilee Youth Ranch was founded in 1995 to provide a structured Christian program/school where young people can begin the process of learning how to make new choices and beginnings. The program began with 11 students living in the existing farm houses on the former dry land wheat farm 35 east of Pasco, Washington. In 1996 the expansion of the program really began with future plans to accommodate a total of 200 students, 50% boys and 50% girls. Presently the new dorms were completed to house 50 boys and 50 girls. The boys facility opened in November of 1996 and the girls facility opens January 25, 1997.

The Ranch is a certified boarding school in the state of Washington meeting all applicable educational, fire, health and safety codes. The concept of family is an important component at Jubilee with regular phone calls, letter writing and family visits. Staff members live in the dorms with the students and when parental involvement is unavailable, the ranch staff becomes the extended family, reaching out to support the students.

Academics at the ranch are provided by Jubilee Academy which uses the highly individualized curriculum "School of Tomorrow". The highly structured program with positive rewards assists students to accelerate their foundation of learning and character growth at the same time. Art, music, sports, computer labs and vocational training round out the program. Blended with the academics are one-to-one ministry, bible studies, chapel services, outreach trips and devotions providing multiple opportunities for the students to learn how to make new and better choices.

Jubilee Fellowship is a private company located in Prescott (Washington), USA.

      About Jubilee Fellowship

The biblical vision of Jubilee focuses on the outsider- the weak, the defenseless, the marginalized and the outcast. It was a social ideal designed to prevent the creation of a permanent class of poor people. The ones on the outside were given the opportunity and tools for a comeback.A society is ultimately judged by its attention to its weakest members, those with their unused potential on the outside of the common life. The goal of Jubilee is to bring the excluded inside, building a holistic supporting community in which the poor person can grow and gradually move from dependency to relative stability as contributing members of the families and communities in which they live. The Jubilee vision desires to nurture the spirit of the residents of Jubilee Youth Ranch and students of Jubilee Christian Academy. Jubilee is an investment restoring wholeness to people with broken lives, broken relationships with God self and others. The program addresses broad areas that affect the quality of life. Our programs focus on housing, social, personal, spiritual and vocational development, with the goal of living a life of meaning and purpose as followers of Jesus Christ.
