New Haven and Kolob Canyon

I was wondering if there have been any legit stories of success from either of these RTC facilities. Also I wanted to know where they stand on abuse... any knowledge on these places would be greatly useful, thank you!!

New Haven is owned by Innerchange. It is a small program. According to blogs the employees love it, so at least some like it. It is a place for the not-so-serious cases which could be dealt with better by choosing to work part time as a parent instead of full time. They demand that you are 100 percent on-board with their approaches and don't ask questions if you spot something you don't like. They have two campuses near Provo.

Kolob Canyon is owned by CERTS. It is way out in the desert near Murray. I saw a post on Facebook "Group: I survived Wilderness" where a girl writes about it. It is basically a "Sit-it-out-until-you-are-18" program. They don't do much to repair the family ties.

The benefits of these two programs are:

1) Your daughter will some kind of High School diploma. Summer school and possible an extra year back in your local school could make this diploma useful.
2) They are smaller than other programs which allows room for some level of learning. They don't seem to use mechanical restraints. They have outings. Unlike some programs they state that they don't use corporal punishment.

The downside is:

1) She will leave your house at 18 or whenever the state laws allow it and try to put distance between you and her. You will not be able to get the same level of trust with her once this path is chosen.
2) New issues will arise from the treatment.
3) The real work starts once she returns home. Without a local therapist to pick up where the program leaves you, it is wasted time. Take that into consideration when you make your budget.

Yes, as Oscar notes, New Haven RTC is owned by InnerChange, which was formerly known as Solacium Holdings LLC. If that sounds like nothing more than a venture capitalist investment group, that's because ... that's exactly what it is.

Or was. They've cleaned up their act somewhat and trimmed some of the more notorious programs from their roster, but... it's always good to keep in mind what and where they evolved from.

Do some searches on this forum (see "Advanced Search," upper right hand corner of most pages) for New Haven, Solacium Holdings, and InnerChange and you'll get a broader picture of what's going on with this program. Also helpful might be searches for other programs this company has or used to have in their lineup:

Kimball DeLaMare has been recently associated with InnerChange. His name would be another good search term. He's been involved in this industry for quite some time, not to mention having been associated with quite a number of some relatively controversial programs.
