Sammie:  I am not a survivor, but I work with survivors.  First, I want to tell you how much I respect you sharing your story and surviving your ordeal.  Your story was very familiar, as it is the same story all of you have had to go through.  I fought for custody of my granddaughter, so I am a survivor of pain and crying for her.  I know it can't compare to what you went through.  I just want you to know, there are a lot of us out here that do care and we are praying for all of you.  I respect you sharing your story with everyone.  That took guts, my granddaughter still can't.

What you survived was an extended rape of the mind, as well as the body.

One of the hardest things for me in recovering from rape was dealing with how I felt about how I reacted during the rape.  It helped to talk to other survivors and realize that my reactions were entirely normal and human and part of the horror of that awful thing---just part of the spectrum of normal human reaction to an inhuman situation.

PTSD is tough.  You're obviously tougher.  I'm glad you've found something you can hold onto.
