Froderik:
Global warming may not be complete horseshit, but to HELL with the slimy politicians (who, by the way, should be killed for the good of all) who will try to profit from the situation (Al Gore, the whole "carbon-credit agenda, etc etc).

Agreed.

I figured you probably knew I didn't write it as it is not my style ;-) But I wanted to make sure b/c I was a little surprised to see the na-na-na-na-boo-boo like response directed to this guy: Harold Lewis is Emeritus Professor of Physics, University of California, Santa Barbara, former Chairman; Former member Defense Science Board, chmn of Technology panel; Chairman DSB study on Nuclear Winter; Former member Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards; Former member, President’s Nuclear Safety Oversight Committee; Chairman APS study on Nuclear Reactor Safety Chairman Risk Assessment Review Group; Co-founder and former Chairman of JASON; Former member USAF Scientific Advisory Board; Served in US Navy in WW II; books: Technological Risk (about, surprise, technological risk) and Why Flip a Coin (about decision making)

To be clear, I don't think he is saying the globe hasn't warmed. What he is saying is the science claiming there is an impending disaster and that the carbon emissions from the USA are to blame, is junk science paid for by special interest and that the entire process and any report it produces is junk. He is expressing his dismay and his upset at having attempts to improve the situation blocked and resigning from his position as a result. It is very eye opening.

Personally, I've no issue with the fact the Earth is warmer lately. It probably is. (BTW, so is Mars) But I do take issue with the dire predictions and the blame for it. Climatic change is as normal for the planet as are the changing seasons. It really upsets me to see politicians turned tycoon fanning the fears of the civilized world, so they can justify keeping them poorer, colder, and less well nourished so they can become even more outrageously powerful and wealthy. That is All this whole thing is. Al Gore should be in prison for perpetrating a massive international fraud - not strutting around the globe stroking his nobel prize - (what a farce the Nobel prize has become) - and pointing his fat finger at us and telling us we are responsible for the destruction of the planet. There may be serious, and for some devastating, climatic shift in the planet's future - as there has been many times in its past - but there is nothing "we" can do about it b/c we simply don't factor in. I feel confident in my opinion b/c we've never been a factor in all the Earth's history, nor can we be effecting the climate on Mars.

All that said, I also have no problem with the development of cheep, clean power. May the capitalist of the world go for it and may they have much success! Once they have solar power affordable and reliable I'll be very glad to use it. Once they get power from the tides in wide use I'll be very pleased. When they are making fule for my car out of algy or switch grass I will be extremely happy to buy it - even if it is a little more expensive - as long as it is a product of the USA and not Saudi-Arabia.
