while I've never been in straight ...
« on: October 01, 2003, 03:06:00 AM »
All you people need to sue the shit out of straight etc. Bravo to Bradbury because sembler's probably nervous as hell. all these sembler type people are not powerful, they're assholes. I cannot believe some of the shit that went on around here. I remeber the little war on drugs bullshit from when I was a teenager and I used to think what a bunch of wrinkled faced bigots on my t.v. telling me shit like drugs are bad and I'm going to die. all that dying shit has to do between me and god not them. I don't can if people have needles coming out of their asses, I wouldn't put them in some center, people addicted to drugs need support and rehab. care and real counselors. People in jail have more rights. this whole thing is like a giant coverup. sembler will have to face his maker and all those that have words with him. the evil son of a bitch will have his day. don't let him scare you because he's some society dude. so what if he has his hands in baywalk or y-bor or whatever. anyone can do what he does and probably 1000 times better. don't worry abour rebeling against him, he will stand as the asshole he is. he needs bad press and the truth will take him down. god bless and the best to everyone.

Well thank you.

I know I appreciate hearing from you Smack. As a survivor of Smell's Straight, Inc., I feel the same way. He has certainly had YEARS to change his ways and admit he fucked up, but not Mel, no ~ he still brags about what he did to us: http://www.usembassy.it/mission/amb/amb-bio-en.htm or here is the paragraph that pertains to what I just mentioned: "
Although best known as a leading shopping center developer, Sembler is also renowned for his activism in the anti-drug movement. In 1976, Sembler and his wife Betty founded STRAIGHT, an adolescent drug treatment program. During its 17 years of existence, STRAIGHT successfully graduated more than 12,000 young people nationwide from its remarkable program."

"Successfully", what a crock of shit. There are a lot of questions those clowns have to answer, because of that mentality, there are now programs based on that model open still doing this same crap to our young. It's sickening to think that, Sembler, and all who are affiliated with him are going to have to be made an example of in the courts to send a message to today's abusers that we do grow up and we will sue you for your shit.

Several people have now revoked that "graduate" status Sembler continues to brag about here: http://fornits.com/anonanon/revoke.htm

To Hell with Sembler. I have a question regarding the revocation of my "Graduation" I want NO-ONE to be able to say I am a successful graduate of the program, since I have gone to the Fornits page and made that clear and revoked my "successful graduation", how can I/We let Mr.George Dubbya Bush and the others know that it's NOT 12,000 successful graduates, it is much less, so stop the fibbing. I think it's false advertising, which is a crime.
Antigen-Do you have any suggesstions on how to further lesson the number that the semblers represent?

My thoughts. This may sound cynical, but I think making George W. aware of the truth is going to do about as much good as pissing in a hurricane. As far as making SOMEONE (I don't know exactly who or what group of people offhand, some media source or bureaucratic bunch) aware of the poor success rate, now that's a GREAT idea.

I don't know, really, except to write, call and otherwise communicate your feelings with the people who pass along that lie. Write to the webmasters of those websites and to papers that do these stupid glowing local mensch pieces on Mel and Betty.

I have got a couple of ideas for action, but no one's ever really taken to them. What if a bunch of ya'll down in Semblerland were to make up a bunch of those white crosses like they used for roadside memorials. Write on them the name of someone who's passed on too young after their 'successful' treatment at Straight and the http://TheStraights.com/ url. Then put them in front of Sembler properties.

Another idea that just occured to me lately was to make up street tiles like the Toynbee tiles (see http://toynbee.net/ ) and place those in front of Sembler properties.

Since you [US "drug tsar" McCaffrey] control a federal budget that has just been increased from $17.8 billion last year to $19.2 billion this year, is asking people like you if we should continue with our nation's current drug policy like a person asking a barber if one needs a haircut? --

One of my pipe dreams when I first started these websites was that it's sort of like sending out a message in a bottle. We're not the only people who Mel and his merry band of neocons have messed with. They mess with just about everyone in one way or another. These folks have a finger in everything from DARE and school piss testing to chemical warfare in So. America to setting up TOUGHLOVE hategroups and private prisons in Australia and Italy.

I think when it gets right down to it, we're the vast majority and the Straightlings and associates are only a small band of carefully camoflaged, well organized and well funded terrorists.

Check this out:
http://forums.sptimes.com/Forums/ubb/cg ... 5&t=006084

When Sammy did her interview with the St. Pete Times, a few of us hit the forums for that paper and stirred up a whole shit storm. Soberman was my primary antagonist. But it seems he's discovered something of fact about Betty's Operation PAR and maybe he's not such a bad guy after all.

The truth will out!

I doubt there's a cause for action with proper legal standing here, but I can honestly say that each and every time I hear Straight or The Seed described as a wonderful, successful program and the people who ran them treated like kindly old philanthropists. When I hear it coming from law enforcement people and from legislators... all of officialdome, in other words, it does cause me deep emotional duress. I wish we could sue them to get them to quit bragging about what they've done to all of us.

The world is so exquisite, with so much love and moral depth, that there is no reason to deceive ourselves with pretty stories for which there's no good evidence. Far better, it seems to me, to look death in the eye and to be grateful every day for the brief but magnificent opportunity that life provides.
