Eksperts view on runaways
« on: October 03, 2010, 05:33:53 AM »
Even here in Denmark the authorities find parents unfit to parent their children and then the question where to place the children. According to the law the even children aged down to 12 shall be heard during the replacement process. Unfortunately it doesn't happen and then the basis for a runaway case is created.

We have around 100 cases where minors run away from their placement and now experts are asking for stricter legislation so the kids get more influence on their placement.

I happen to agree. How is the hearing process conducted at your place?

Denmark isnt the only country with this problem.  Believe it or not we have similar problems here in the US.  When a child has no representation or it is felt that the childs parents will not put the childs best interests first then the state appoints a Guardian ad Litem.  This is an attorney who will represent the best interests of a minor child.
