Legal vs. HIGHLY illegal
« on: November 13, 2009, 07:41:20 PM »
For those folks here who know me,  they know that I'd "partake" if it were not so highly illegal where I live/work/etc... I mean, one bad timing day and poof, there goes the immediate future for me. Quite frankly, not everyone shares my opinions about weed and having it decriminalized/legalized and I have to be careful how I talk about it where I am, but for the most part I do not worry too much that I fully support an American's right to light up when/whereever. I find it very frustrating that it is "legal" is some states but HIGHLY illegal in others. I mean, folks who live in the legal states aint any worse off than the folks in the HIGHLY illegal states... from what I can tell, it's like what is the hold up? Why can't the states where it's HIGHLY illegal just let folks do it and stop making people all paranoid and threaten to take kids, property, etc.?

I say it's HIGH time folks start flooding the HIGHLY illegal states with free the weed signs, stickers, calls, etc... It aint fair that there's some legal and some HIGHLY illegal states!! Let's make it legal already!!!  :rasta:

Now, you know, I've bitched / agitated about this very thing on here before, too....and I couldn't agree more!

It's way past time to stop criminalizing people for possessing / smoking a plant....

To employ one of my favorite bits of $tr8 lingo, "It's bullshit."  :D

Well, the thin gto do is grow it everywhere and encourage the use of it as an act of civil disobedience.  We could do like the blacks did and march in public, smoking big ol' glass bongs and three foot joints.......our civl disobedience will eventually turn the tide toward legalization, and by 2040, we'll elect a pot plant as President.  IT all starts with the small Rosa Parks-like act of getting high on a city bus in Alabama.  You first.

Beaurocracy moves slow. America has always moved slow when it comes to change. That is the hold up, well that and the righteous/non-scientific section of the population who refuses to look at science.

Yeah, it sucks...that's life. Just be happy things are changing at all and keep the pressure on. I agree, weed should be decriminalized and eventually legalized, taxed and studied. People shouldn't be crushed because they smoke a little weed or use it medicinally. That hurts our society 10-fold.

I think it would be more beneficial to take a more moderate/scientific stance if you are going to go bumpersticker crazy. I would stick to the "decriminalize marijuana use" or "legalize medicinal marijuana" for now since the science is on our side. Until public opinion changes, I don't think it would be very effective to express an extreme point of view even if it is the correct point to make.

We just have to keep talking about it in a reasonable manner and be very patient for the slow change to happen.

It has been my impression that the masses don't think it's a big deal if folks light up. It's the DA's and the cops and the "establishment" so to speak that controls the oppression in that department. Add these drug free zealous drug warrior orgs spoutin their hearsay like it's the law, well, an act of civil disobedience doesn't sound all that bad, but I would have a hard time where I am since people get shot for getting high here, LOL... Maybe something like a large pot leaf in a farmer's field with a $ sign attached, "This is what paves your highways" or you know, a slogan depicting some sort of benefit that comes from the LEGAL sale of the plant material. My main point was that it's not fair that someone in CA lets say sells weed to a sick person, but if someone in VA does it, they go to prison for years. I mean, this is the USA... jeez.

Well the thing is about that is 'at the folks in CA voted to decriminalize it and since then legalize the medical use thereof, and now Obama says he's a-gonna pull the feds back off a the states right, so Rastafari.

VA just has to decide it wants to do the same thing...'course VA is no CA.  I'm more for states rights than the Fed, and I'd be more for county rights than state and on down the line until all representation is abolished(idealy :-  :nods:  :soapbox: )

If you would have justice in this world, then begin to see that a human being is not a means to some end.  People are not commodities.  When human beings are just to one another government becomes obsolete and real freedom is born; SPIRITUAL ANARCHY.
