Firesigns 'burn' with possibilities. Plan the future too rigidly, remove the little bit of chaos that makes the world go 'round, and the fiery type panics. You've taken away what nourishes them -- their ability to shape creative things out of random possibilities. Some people need security more than anything. Not so with us fire signs. While we like some security, too much of it is like burying us alive- we suffocate. The overwhelming and contagious enthusiasm is hard to resist, but so is the anger. Firesigns often exaggerate their behavior; they dramatize it even when they are alone. It's not that they're attention hounds, they need this fantasizing, this injection of brilliant color and sound into the grey and banal fabric the world is insisting is reality. Visions and dreams are sacred to the fire sign. If we stare at a detail for too long, we feel we might miss something. We like to get the gist of the picture without getting trapped in it for too long. Fire signs can have problems coping with the everyday world. They long to transcend that old incubus, the body. Often we're are health-conscious in effort to stave off the inevitable. We seek restlessly that spiritual soul-mate who will secretly understand our fears that drive us without demanding that we explain ourselves, who can fan our hearth into a mighty, creative conflagration, who can contain us without imprisoning us!

If evil is branded, it thinks of weapons, and if we do it the favor of fighting against it blow for blow, we lose in the end because thus we ourselves get entangled in hatred and passion. Therefore it is important to begin at home, to be on guard in our own persons against the faults we have branded. In this way, finding no opponent, the sharp edges of the weapons of evil becomes dulled. For the same reasons we should not combat our own faults directly. As long as we wrestle with them, they continue victorious.

Finally, the best way to fight evil is to make energetic progress in the good.
