Another Miracle?
« on: August 09, 2009, 03:49:04 PM »
This young man's obit ends with some AARC begging, and among the guest signatories is Peter Choda, long-time AARC hanger-on and provider of "professional" opinions to those who would question a diagnosis by the amateurs on staff.

Andrew James Davis

DAVIS , Andrew James April 21, 1986 - July 10, 2009 Andrew James Davis, beloved son of Judy Davis and the late Jim Davis, passed away on July 10, 2009 at the age of 23 years. He brought love and joy to those close to him with his big smile and great hugs. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his mother Judy (Bob); his sister Leanne (Paul) Ferrar; sister Emily; Auntie Wendy; as well as many family members and friends. Andrew's unexpected, early death has left a huge void in the lives of those who loved him. We will cherish his memories through all of our "Andrew Stories". We invite you to send any letters of tribute and personal messages to his family at http://www.mcinnisandholloway.com . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre, 303 Forge Road S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2H 0S9. In living memory of Andrew Davis a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: 403-243-8200.

I have seen programs gobble up charity money in other program related obituaries. Pathway did it, Kids Helping Kids did it and I'm sure All of the Straight programs did it too.

I don't think it is unusual for people to be asked to send money to a charitable organization in lieu of flowers. What is unusual is that people sending the money don't realize that the "charitable organization" they are giving to may have led to the demise of the deceased.

Anyone know what happened to this young man? Was it an accident? Suicide?

He looks familiar.
