Cincinnati Teen Challenge Newsletter, Summer 2008
New Staff Spotlight
My name is Scott Feist, I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and went to Lakota High
School. I was raised in an upper middle class home, played soccer and swam on
the swim team most of my younger years up through high school. I began rebelling
against basically all authority and
started drinking at the age of 11.
Although my upbringing was
relatively good from the world’s
view I just thought my parents were
too strict and I wanted to do what I
wanted to do. My parents first tried
family counseling, then boarding
school, and then finally a live-in
residential secular program called
Straight. About this time I learning
about harder drugs and had
intense rebellion. I was there for
22 months then finally was
terminated. Shortly after leaving
that program I was saved at the
age of 18. The seeds were firmly
planted by the Lord Himself and
watered continually as He patiently waited on me to follow Him. You see, I had not
known about the importance of the intense discipleship one needs after salvation
as the Lord continues to sanctify us and to strengthen us daily. I realize all of the
troubles I faced over the next 14 years were all working out for the good because
even though I had fallen because of my ignorance and was perishing for my lack
of knowledge, the Lord is still faithful to complete that work He had begun in me at
18. Drugs, alcohol and a promiscuous lifestyle all came to an end in 2001 after
being charged and convicted of my 11th drunk driving violation. I truly was
completely broken and desperate for my Lord. Shortly thereafter I heard of
Lansing Teen Challenge in Michigan and knew my life as I was living it was over.
The judge graciously allowed me to complete the program before sentencing me
which I did on October 4th, 2002. During that time the Lord placed a passion in me
for training up children from birth in the Word of God, and army, if you will, of
prayer warriors, soul winners, and disciple makers. Since that vision was birthed I
have patiently waited for the Lord to move. During this period of waiting, my wife
Liz and I, have been blessed with 5 healthy boys, Nathaniel, Jesse, Jeremiah,
Jacob and Joseph. These are my first 5 to train up from birth in His Word. The
Lord in this time has blessed my painting and drywall business in Michigan along
with my volunteering for Lansing Teen Challenge which has kept me rooted and
humbled. I look forward to being a part of Cincinnati Teen Challenge and am ready
to do my very best at helping these men to become the warriors in Christ they
were called to be. My family and I will be moving to Milford, September 1st, where I
plan to re-establish my business (KSF Professional Painting) and become part of
this great ministry touching lives for years to come.--
