Listen carefully... You can be predictable and get all pissy and angry, like you probably did toward your parents who rightfully sent you packing. Or you can engage in a rational discussion, and explain to the skeptical audience what it is you are trying to accomplish in your "anti program movement", laughable as that term is to anyone with a brain, I am sincerely interested in your position.
Now, there are so many holes in your argument against all programs I don't know where to begin, so I want you to explain to me something that has confused me. It appears your movement leader, Psy, was never in a programs as an underage youth. In fact, in the US when he reached the age of 18 he was emancipated from his parents legally, becoming responsible for his own decisions. If he committed a crime, he would be put in jail and not juvenille hall, he could sign his own contracts, he could even buy cigarettes... an adult, through and through.
So will someone care to explain to me, what it is in the "anti program movement" that would have prevented this legal adult from signing themselves into a treatment center. What regulation are you pushing for that would of saved Psy from his completely self imposed situation? Who should be prosecuted for the "crimes" committed against Psy? What laws do you want to pass that would prevent an adult from entering treatment, and staying, willingly?
I'll admit, I've heard some descent arguments against programs involving underage kids who don't have a choice, or any power to do anything about the situation. You feel empathy with those powerless kids for not having input in where their life is headed. But then you have Psy, a legal adult who signed himself in and could of walked away and claims he was "abused" even though he can provide no evidence of this. This leader me to believe either the anti program movement is a front for the abolishment of all treatment, for adults and children, voluntary or forced. If not, then why would this movement choose Psy as it's leader? These are open questions that need to be addressed, because logically, it makes no sense at all.
Are you, as an individual, against legal adults choosing to enter treatment on their own legal accord?
Are you, as an individual, willing to water down the term 'abuse' to the degree that almost anyone can claim they are a victim?
The reason I specifically ask, as an individual, is because it appears many people reflexively and emotionally defend their 'program brethren' despite the fact that one person's claims and actions can affect another. By choosing Psy as your leader you have created confusion as to what your goals really are. Unless of course, the only goal, is to complain.
