Anon you ask: Where did this person say they didn't believe Melissa? Just looks like they were making a point.
And where, Einstein, did I say the other anon "didn't believe Melissa"?
The other anon said she would be judged "wrong" if she challenged Melissa's beliefs.
If she wants to CHALLENGE Melissa's beliefs, what would you think her intention might be? To support Melissa's beliefs about her experience? Or point out how Melissa might have misinterpreted her experience as abusive???
Dr. Phil ocassionally comes off with something brilliant. More often than not, he is about public humilation and rudeness, probably why you're attracked to him.
If I know DrP, he would probably advise you to look before you leap. If you're gonna dialogue with someone and rebut their comments, the least you could do is listen to what the other person says. Have you ever seen what he does to particpants when they don't listen and mis-quote him? It isn't pretty.
Yes, ego is a good thing. Your homework...report the definition of ego. Then, we can debate if it's a good or bad thing.
I actually prefer self-esteem when discussing how one feels about themself. The anon poster was not making a statement about other's self-esteem. S/he was slamming this "forum", implying it was self-absorbed. Hmmm.
FYI, for the record, I'm not a Freudian. I think Freud was a sick *uck; hopped up on cocaine and who know what else; who chopped people and their psyhes into parts; and admitted to be unable to really help someone resolve their distress, only "manage" it.
