During the last 48 hours one man has been killed and another is in intensive care after being shot several times in his back.

One of the victims are members of a gang according to sources by our secret police. They were both victims of mistaken identity.

I personally believe him. I've been living in hoods with a strong gang presence ever since I moved to san francisco (15 years ago) and even though the activity where I'm at is not even remotely close to what oscar is describing, I can totally see it getting to that point with any kind of gangbanging. Two big latino gangs out here, the nortenos (north) and surenos (south) both have ties to crime syndicates in both the us and south america; they're not just some small group of punks. I'm currently on north (red) turf. My friend just moved to the canal district in marin, which is big time south (blue) turf. I almost got killed when I first moved here because I was wearing a blue bandana on my head in Norteno territory. The guy schooled me and gave me a warning, thank god.

I'm also not sure how much you've heard about biker gangs like the hells angels, but those guys *do not* fuck around. Hollywood has painted a glamorous image for them, but they are seriously hard-motherfuckin-core.

I can see how in Oscar's neck of the woods, it could a shitload worse, especially if any of those gangs have ties to the Russian mob, who are the craziest, scariest bunch of motherfuckers on this planet... period.

Where does ordinary crime stop and a civil war start?

Our police was in the area massive with about 50 cops. There was at the scene within minutes and arrested three others who were wearing body armor, but the sale has been 50-dobled since the war started, so they were all released this morning as they had no connection to the latest shooting. The price is only half of when the war started. Everybody buys them. Even the police because the government issued are of poor quality. One of my friends is a cop and when he purchased one, he met some of his normal "clients". They had a chat and he learned that they are also worried. There has even been parents who want to buy some for their children who goes to school in that area and because we have no curfew laws also are out in the street once they are 12 to about 22-23. It is soon like England where stab-proof school uniforms are being sold.

During the Great Nordic Biker war a lot of rocket weapon were stolen from the Swedish army. Because our nation is small, the police knew in advance that one of the gangs had them. They even had an informant who told where to find them, but the police was told to back off, because the politicians wanted to use the war to make tougher laws. A direct result we have a law where a group which are targeted by another group can not own property in populated areas because an attack using rocket could kill the neighbors.

We are several who believes that present war is provoked by our goverment because they want to increase the period where the police can detain people without charging them. A recent law allowed the police to hold people for 6 hours without charging them. They use this law randomly almost every Sunday at soccer games. I live far from a soccer stadion but like most people I stay near my house between 9 and 14 on Sunday because I wont risk waste a Sunday in Jail. It has been proposed that the police should be allowed to detain people for weeks without involving the court system in relationship with the war.

But what is civil war?. Wikipedia defines it as:

The question is whether they just want to control the drug market or they want to go further and change our culture as it is done in England where Sharia law is welcomed for certain groups so we can risk two kind of justice systems in the same country.

I am not going to judge whether we have a civil war or not. I am only going to stay indoor.
