Straight to be renamed Changes Recovery Center
« on: February 20, 2009, 02:47:25 PM »
Alright, folks, just because "a group of parents and staff members [from the Pathways Family Center that just closed] have been meeting independently to try and continue the lifesaving work that dramatically changed young lives," [1] doesn't mean they are starting up Straight Incorporated all over again, even though that is how Straight Incorporated keeps getting started up all over again. So, what I think is fair is, if everyone could please simply call them to ask, nicely, some nice questions about the new outpatient treatment center, such as, what time of day you could be expected to drop off and pick up both your child and the children on lower phases whom you were hosting overnight, how long you could hold the raffle prize check in your hand as a winner before turning it back over to the CRC, and whether or not they needed new stationery or were they just going to use the old Straight stationery and cross out Straight and write in Changes Recovery Center, to save trees and stuff.

I really think it would be more fair to ask them if they know that the term "therapeutic community" is pretty much a tag for a cult, and if the kids on the front page of their website are representative of what your kid could expect when enrolled, i.e., with respect to motivating and/or wearing adornments while motivating. [2]

Now, I know this all sounds rather silly, and it is actually more conceivable that Froderick is pulling everyone's leg and put up a few fake sites, so if anyone wants to check them out for validity, here are the links:

1. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news/local Teen_Addiction_Program_Shut_Unexpectedly

2. http://www.changesrecoverycenter.org

To make things easier for you to call them and then come back here and entertain me with what you found out when you called, here is the number from the fox detroit article: 248-552-8111. There's no one there right now, or else they were all at lunch, so,

Also, Pathways Family Center is imploring people on their website, that's pathwaysfamilycenter.org, to call them 24 hours a day, 1-800-261-4605.
Or, if you don't want to run up their 1-800 phone bill, you could call them on another one of their lines:

I think you mean "started over".  LOL

Lols.  It'll probably look something like the attached.

I'd really like to see one where it says:

    "Straight, Inc."... crossed out, with
"Pathway Family Center" written in... crossed out, with
    "Changes Recovery Center" written in.

There is one like that on ISAC's site, but the pathway is handwritten.  I don't have my tablet with me (stolen)... otherwise I would have done exactly what you suggested.

For some reason the #1 link/reference/footnote in the OP does not work. Here is a functional version:

In case you weren't in on the joke in the o.p. and psy's quick-fake comeback, see some REAL, ACTUAL Pathways documents:

I'm sorry I yelled at you. I really don't like that song, or having song lyrics put in threads where people are trying to discuss something like Straight opening up again, because it is distracting. I scroll through threads trying to get information and see what people are doing about the information. I should have said to please not put song lyrics on this thread. Thank you for understanding.

It was SOOO predictable that this QUACK of a program (PFC) has the parents )who are supposedly STILL running it in MI on their own( thinking that they are slick shit or something. BUSTED!! Like they are a "different" program. With a "different approach".   ::)  ::)  ::)

That tune was like a vent, of sorts and it has not really been fully written yet, but if it is completed, it will be posted on a different thread. Carry on...

Actually...  I thought it woudl be kinda fun to be in that situation.  It would have it's downsides, yes, but you could learn to play the piano like a pro, rob banks, etc... lol

I think the active protesters on this site should just protest the shit out of this place from the first day they open.
Would probably keep enrollment numbers and donations down at the very least. I think the beginning and end is the hardest time for these places.
