I am not defending vision quest. Their record speaks for itself. But this did not seem like a camp to punish troubled boys, it seemed like a leadership sort of thing. The YMCA does not have a history of negligence & they were involved with it. So perhaps it was a genuine tragedy or perhaps there was inadequate supervision of the boys & it was a prank that went horribly wrong

For the record, the tragedy of the OP is associated with a Vision Quest program that is NOT the one we are familiar with.

It is associated with some program based in Georgia, and yes, a leadership type program which may or may not have other problems. The "character" language and the connection to Boston University sounds suspiciously familiar, but that may just be my own peculiar trigger points...

I don't know if you noticed, but VisionQuest has not had a death since 1995.  This Vision Quest International is not associated with the VisionQuest that is on the website of children that have died in facilities.  They are too totally different types of programs.
