Um ... isn't that the same kind of self-righteousness Lon Woodbury used for so many years to effectively ban anti-industry folks from posting on ST? What has Fornits gained? What has it lost?
Exactly how is he going to make money off of fornits anyway? The guy spewed his stuff and he was pro program so he got the heave. It sounds better if they say he was banned for something else, but we all know he was banned because we were sick of his crap.
Hmm. Perhaps he/she really does have a daughter who attended one of Aspen's hell-holes, 'cept she hasn't graduated yet. She's still there. Now isn't there something called "tuition credit" at some of these places, for the number of other families one is able to recruit? This is just a guess here, a possible scenario. There are many others...
Well I am not comfortable having someone banned because of a guess IMO. Now that he is gone is there any evidence that he was making money? I personally think he was booted because he was pro program. I would gather most of us know that but dont want to admit it because it nakes us like ST.
Ginger has many times stated that she is anti-censorship and actually welcomes pro-program voices for their part in debate (wretched paraphrase on my part but bear with me here). My guess is that his banning has more to it than his mere pro-program bias, but again, this is just my guess.
Here's another scenario of possible financial gain: a per head premium paid by Hell-hole Whatever, similar to what Sue Scheff was paid even after she no longer had Ashlyn enrolled anywhere. What was it then, $1000 per enrollment? What is it now?
I must say, the sheer length, tenacity of focus, and investment of TheWho's time -- when you look at it as a whole -- is simply very hard to believe as arising from mere ideological stance.
You might well ask: what about the anti-program survivors here, don't some of them
also put in analogous amounts of time, sweat, etc., sometimes over the course of many years? Well, hell YES!! It was
their butts (or their relatives' or loved ones' butts) that went through the wringer,
their hearts and minds twisted by those bastards!! Think that doesn't serve to fuel some passion into the posting?
It is understandable for those of us who actually went through a personal hell by these means to be a little obsessed by this. It is far less understandable for someone more removed from the scene to put this kind of effort in. Does Sue Scheff post here on the order that TheWho does? Nah, she puts her two cents in from time to time, but mostly she's out making money. What is TheWho doing here?
There has got to be some kind of money-making (or some serious pathology) involved in the mix for TheWho here, IMHO.
