Can't reprogram you or your child?

They want you to live by their standards of character while you are there, and hopefully when you leave you will take those standards on as your own.

What the hell is this then?

I want my life to have a purpose, I want honesty, humility, integrity, and all of those things to matter in my life, and they do. They all play a role in the selection of friends, if I can't trust someone then I can't be friends with them.

Why is that hard to do in the "real" world? That's how most people live. That IS the real world. If you live differently in the program and find it hard to be honest and have integrity in the real world then you weren't being honest and having integrity in your "program".

Those skills should be easily transferable in the "real world".

You can't transfer what you can't charge $150 a day for.

Come on people.

Drink the Kool aid.

Is it possible a student recently out of TBS will curse its name, but as the years pass they grow older and mature, begin to understand their parents decision and finally accept it? Has this ever happened?

Yes it is possible.

In fact, it's quite customary.

I'm living proof.

And better yet I spoke with the folks last week. To my heart's content pops said, "Yeah, looking back on it I wish I would have done xyz".
There was no yelling. There was no animosity. Just 2 good guys talking about the truth.

That's called healing.

That's called life.

My dad is a great guy. My only hope is that I have the opportunity to be there for him. Sometimes parents don't know what to do.

Picture me giving him a hug. Picture us throwing the baseball in the backyard.

One day we'll be hanging out in my grandparent's backyard goofing around. Practicng our putting. Laughing. Being good old family. The good old days.

I love you grandad. Let me take you golfing today.

Everything comes full circle.

The older I get, the more I understand, the more I curse.

I do understand that my parents did not make an informed decision.  I also understand that they do not want to be informed of it now, either.  They don't want to deal with it; "it's in the past."

The whole kit and kaboodle is unacceptable to me, and increasingly so, as time passes.  That constitutes decades of build-up.
