I'd say it's worth a try...if for no other reason than to see how far people could 'push the envelope' before having their thread banished to the basement... I imagine it could get pretty exciting after a while...lol.. I like it! I vote try it for a week or two, but only as an experiment...lmao.

Yeah - that thought did occur to me. But seriously folks - don't you agree that some of the images are Way across a line?

As for banning - speaking hypothetically - b/c I know no such thing will ever occur here - Guess I'd stay pretty busy banning IPs for awhile. It must have some effect, b/c other boards manage to control rampant and offensive trolling that way.

But back to my original thought - is it possible to have a block user feature?  So, individuals could have some control over what they are subjected to - with out having to abandon the board all together?

For the time being, you might be 'safest' not reading threads Who is involved with. Seems the troll derails the thread with porn when Who derails the discussion with BS and program propoganda.
Don't click links unless it's clear where they go. After a couple of days with no comments, then it might be safe to take a peek if you're still interested.
As always, you must tell parents etal what to expect here. It's an open free for all. For all its 'negative' aspects, there's nothing to compare in terms of accurate info on the industry. The 'Cliff's notes' sometimes comes with a price. Give parents direct links to what they are looking for. Warn them about clicking on links.
Life is not 'safe'. Never was, never will be.

Good info, well except for the propaganda part ( I havent been derailing any  threads).  We have been having some very productive discussions if anyone is interested in looking.

What I have been telling parents is this:

1:  Dont click on any link from a guest poster, period.
2: If you right click on the link and then click on properties, you will be able to see the origin of the link and be able to determine if you want to click on it or not.

But personally I rarely click any links.  I take the property information and run it thru a google search page and view it that way as an extra precaution.

I never bother with the Who's bull shit. But if you avoid every thread they post on, there'd be little left to read.

I did learn long ago to never open a link without some prior knowledge of what is was about.

I do warn folks about the realities here. But this business of posting these pornographic and grotesque images is something new. If this is going to occur in random threads, with out warning - I absolutely can not suggest anyone ever use this forum, no matter how much worthwhile information might be found here - and I myself will no longer feel comfortable  - as there is no way to know when you will run upon something grossly offensive.

There has got to be a workable solution.

I think you will find that I post mainly in only 3 forums:

TTI, Aspen and HLA

This will soon drop to just TTI and Aspen forums so there should be plenty to read.  Sorry if my posts offend you.  Another option is to just skip over the posts that I write.  This is what I typically do with people who I am not interested in reading or who I find offensive.  You will still be able to follow the conversation….give it a try.

DITTO.
I would like to apologize.  I should've been smarter than that too.
Let's just get past this.

One thought is that there could be a “filter featureâ€

Yeah - and it takes some effort to post as a guest these days too - no one can be doing it accidentally.

So - anyway - I guess an individual block user feature is not doable?

I hear ya....At least they got rid of all those letters you had to copy over after pressing the "I am human" button.  Jesus christ it takes me over 20 minutes to type all of those in...and then if you miss one dam capital letter etc. you have to do it all over again.....really cut into my guest posting.
