Probably the same way Tori Spelling became ordained which was through the interenet.

Studying at a seminary isn't the only way to become an ordained minister. You can sign up on a web site and immediately be a minister. Not everyone finds the Web's path legitimate from a spiritual perspective, but it's usually legal in the United States.

Perhaps the most popular instant-minister organization is the Universal Life Church (ULC). The ULC used to advertise in the back of magazines like Rolling Stone. All you had to do was mail in a self-addressed stamped envelope in order to become a minister. With the advent of the Internet, you're only a few clicks away from holy orders.

It really amounts to a bunch of nothing.

Our History

Harbor Oaks was formed in the hearts of our directors, Jim and Patricia Jones long before it began in reality. For more than thirty years, they have worked in ministry with children and youth, successfully raising two children of their own. Their passion for the angry, lonely, and abused has enabled them to reach out to hundreds of children and teens and make a tremendous impact on their lives.

Both Jim and Pat are ordained ministers and Licensed Certified Pastoral Counselors. Both are certified in the field of Suicide Prevention.

Pat is a Licensed Forensics Counselor with a specialty in Anger Management and Domestic Violence. Both Jim and Pat have spent several years facilitating Parent and Teen Conferences and addressing various issues on Life Management skills and Parent/Teen Relationships.

Pat’s former work in a behavioral hospital, as well as her special training, has enabled her to effectively spot and address serious issues such as depression, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, and self-injury.

Pat Jones serves as Administrator/Principal of the school (Certified through School of Tomorrow). She monitors the academic success of each student and works closely with the teachers and assistants on a daily basis. Pat has a master of science and a doctorate degree in Clinical Christian Psychology.

There's that "ORDAINED" word again - both are ordained ministers.
What's a Pastoral Counselor?

Sister Pat is a Licensed Pastoral Counselor; a Licensed Forensic Counselor; claims years of experience in running conference. No wonder she can just "SPOT" serious emotional problems!

Wow!  Pat has a Masters and PhD in Clinical Christian Psychology, TOO?
No mention of a University?  Think that School of Tomorrow (sounds like a Day Care Center) hands out graduate degrees?

Think Sue Scheff has been "ORDAINED" as anything by these folks, yet?

Its another common thread with these people.  Miller Newton is now Father Cassian Newton in the Anitoch church.  I've been contacted by a few people who are appalled that he was able to buy his priesthood (he donated a shitload of property to 'the church' and Bingo Bango, you're a  "priest" ) and further appalled that he's able to "cousel" people this way even though he's been run out of every state he's tried to open up a clinical practice in.  So he did what he always does.  He found a creative way around those pesky regulations.

Licensed and certified by who?

Funny how they leave out all the details and only focus on the "buzz" words.
