Wow, I really got those guys stirred up today!  Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to respond, but these kids claiming to have been "victimized" or "abused" are really just exagerating things to manipulate parents into not seeking help.  99% of that stuff never even happened (lies) and the other 1% is overblown (manipulation).  One thing I will admit though is that when I was visiting my daughter at ASR there were some "troubled girls" there who were coming on to me (I guess in an attempt to try to get me to take them out of there -manipulation-  which I would never do).  Looking back, some of them were pretty hot and if they liked sex, it wouldn't be "abuse" to give it to them!  I definitely thought about it and bet that the counselors did too!

But it takes more than one person to have a flame war, I think is what he called it.

Anne, That is the point!  when asked several months ago we were all told that the mods did not have this capability without leaving an edit trail.  Now we know that they do have the capability of altering posts without leaving a trail that the post was changed.

Sorry, Anne, you are wrong.  The information came from Ginger when thewho complained and thewhos posts were altered and deleted while he was using his user name, not as a guest.

you are talking recently.  The altered and deleted posts occured several months ago.  The posts that were deleted where posts written by thewho under his name (not as a guset).  The text of the messages were altered.

Thewho pm'd the mod directly and asked it to stop and he was told where to go.  When he took it to ginger it was made public that only an admin can alter posts without an edit trail and mods cannot and it was concluded that thewho was drunk or trying to cover up something he wished he hadnt said so the issue was dropped (kangaroo court style)

Posts are altered in this forum and others, whether you choose to believe it or not, we have already established this.  What the readers need to feel comfortable again is to ensure that what they say or their intention is not altered after they post to suit the opinions of the moderators or the direction they would like to lead the discussion.

You are on the outside looking in,anne, until it happens to you its no big deal, shit its only thewho who gives a crap what he says anyway.  But if it happens to him it can happen to anyone who disagrees with the majority or becomes a pain in the ass.  If you decide to go against popular opinion here and srite about it only to find your post has been altered to suit the group in charge wouldnt you be pissed?  and then if you changed it back your edit would leave a edit mark and everyone would claim you did it and couldnt remember, or that you were drunk.

In any event the hole needs to be plugged.  If someone has the key to the cash box eventually money will be taken or borrowed.  There needs to be better checks and balances in my opinion, not a witch hunt.  Lets improve the process, make the readers feel comfortable to post and put this behind us.

thewho said you were funny, lewd jokes is one of the many areas where thewho and I disagree.  He is not one for lewd jokes, he has absolutley no social skills at all, aspergers we think.

1)   If the readers could be comfortable that each post had an edit trail then that may plug the hole.
2)   If internal edits were limited to admins that may do it also.  I dont know much about database design but  know admins are busy as hell and would have time to review and change individual posts to suit their personal agenda.
3)   Like the above poster suggest, just be honest and warn readers that the text of their messages could be altered, (at the will of the moderator) if they are way out of line.

apparently not becuse we covered this a page or 2 back and thewhos proxy there said it wasnt the symbol being added and it occured several months ago to posts under his user name.  If you cant fucking pay attention I am going to ask the mods to start deleting your posts.
