No its just Little old me.  I finally discovered that if I check messages first then I can post.  It kept saying Ft. Lauderdale is all ready taken.
I was trying to figure out where I was being taken to.

no black hair
no other family members in the program
If you're a guy, I wouldn't have known you, we were always separated-right  and I wasn't the kind of girl you'd notice.  I was just chatting about all this.  I don't really remember anyone - I blocked most of it out - with lots of family 'support'.  Don't remember anything about my oldcomers.  No names, where they lived   or how long I was with any of them (I think there were 3).  I thought it was 'just another experience I lived through';  "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"  (that was for you, Greg).
But I wander...  I KNOW I was 'trouble'.  Never can tell what I'll do or say next.
Like the time I stood up during the filming of the documentary.  It was an open meeting, maybe my third.  First time I'd been allowed to talk and I burst into tears in the middle of it  :flame: That was on Andrews Ave.
Wonder how many families 'fell' for the way that was pitched.
Then Art kinda 'dared' me to get up and sing in front of group once.  I did.  That was on SR84.  Cured me.  Never put my hand up again.  ever
I was a designated driver, I remember that.  Commercial Blvd., east (by the pier) to SR84.  I loved that drive.  Several times a week.  So peaceful
A moment of silence for 'the ride', if you please.  1967Mustang.  Sweet.
If you lived in between, you might have been in my Mustang.  This was the best time of my life actually...

Here's another one: what if we weren't ever really 'broken'?
« Reply #21 on: August 27, 2007, 11:47:51 AM »
3X:

Personally, that's been my contention for quite a while. Trying to live a life "recovering" from something - who the hell knows. Problematic to say the least. I pretty sure my parents would not have opted to treat a broken arm by amputation, but that's pretty much what the "cure" amounted to for me. Perhaps a bit over the top as analogies go, but I think the point is fairly clear.

So many of the kids who passed through the warehouse doors were never broken in the first place.  For others, like yourself, there was NO WAY drug rehab programming could have ever addressed or helped you repair the harm inflicted on you by other people.  But there was money to be made and lives to saved.

Thirty some years have passed and It's not any different now - unless you consider the fact that there are professionals who can apparently make money on all aspects of the programs - site purchasing, building construction and refurbishment, referral, enrollment, transport/kidnapping and even deprogramming.  Actually, as hard it is to recall the events and all of the emotion and other poo that goes along with remebering, this site is a pretty cool place to start to work it out. I was in FTL on SR 84 sarting 3/73 and involved I think maybe a year - maybe less.

The person who stands up and says, ``This is stupid,\'\' either is asked to `behave\' or, worse, is greeted with a cheerful ``Yes, we know! Isn\'t it terrific ?\'\' -- Frank Zappa

Never would have 'said' another word about anything from back then, but I can read.  Once that happened, there was no walking away.  And OOOOOh :o  ; the ramifications.!!

What is this documentary that you are referring to?  Is it possible to see it?  also, has anyone seen Over the GW?  Worth purchasing?
