Newcomer = noob
to julie: tl;dr.. good stuff just can't be arsed to read something that long unless its a book in front of me.
Get busy writing up another book damn it and explain to me how the hell Cally's grandpa survived a nuclear blast when he wasn't all the way in the bunker.
(Sorry, people, digressing from Fornits topics)
Papa O'Neal didn't survive. He was dead as a doornail. A Himmit injected him with hiberzine and the Tchpht put him on the Slab.
If the Crabs have even a significant chunk of your brain intact, they can bring you back even if they have to supplement "you" with bits of someone else (see Elsworthy/Elgars hybrid). In Papa's case, his head was intact, so they regenned him straight from what they had.
By the way, Sister Time just went in for them to print the ARCs, and we are snippetting the first quarter of the book in Ringo's Tavern on Baen's Bar. I think my husband is breaking them up into chunks of maybe five pages a week. That keeps them coming out until the book hits Webscriptions, or the eARC becomes available.
It's due out in dead tree edition in December.
John and I are working on the third and final Cally book, Honor of the Clan. Our date to turn it in is October, we may be late, it usually takes about a year after we turn the MS in for it to hit the shelves, so you'll probably get the third one in early 2009.
