Hi Sandy,
I can't imagine interesting my sister in a lawsuit at this stage, when she is not even discussing the fact that enrolling Jason at TB is a grave error.
I am hoping to convince her that TB has a horrible reputation for abusing these students, and that the educational benefits are practically non-existent. It does not appear that Jason is receiving any psychological or clinical sessions, eitherl.
I do know that having Jason back at home is not the answer now. If a summer-type-program could be presented to my sister; with an academic boarding school lined up for the fall; I believe my efforts to get Jason released from TB might be successful. Jason does enjoy working with my horses when he visits here, and he enjoys outdoor camping, hihking, fishing, etc. Are you aware of any type of dude-ranch-type programs, or outdoors summer programs that might offer services to teens with problems?
This would allow time to look at permanent academic boarding schools for the fall semester.
I will work with my sister, as far as the finances, as long as the school is not one of these "behavor modification" programs.
I asked her how she found TB? She talked to a representative from Teen Help, which I believe is the marketing department for these schools. Everything was done over the internet and by telephone.
I asked how she expected to pay these tuitition costs at TB, since Jason's college fund will not be released; and my question was not answered directly. It is my hope that if she can not meet the financial responsibility, that Jason will be "expelled" for non-payment.
I'm sure you can see that I am grasping for straws.
I have no "custodial rights" and do not want to antagonize my sister, and cut off all communications. She is my only contact with Jason, at this point.
Thanks,
Patti
