I have heard from staff that are still there that the inmates are basically running the assylum. Staff are afraid to do much of anything in terms of confronting because they are spooked by the lawsuit. There is apparently a sense of apathy rising amongst the counseling staff.

I know that several staff members told my kid that they would be leaving HLA's employment soon. We saw some ex staff around Dahlonega that told us that they were so happy that we were pulling our kid out of HLA.

How can this clown be the Dir. of Counseling when he's not even a licensed counselor in Georgia? Shouldn't he have some sort of legitimate credentials to hold this title?

This is a good question.  How can he be a director of something he's legally barred from doing?  Doesn't make much sense...

No license in GA:

He can do it because he does not do clinical supervision of the counselors.  He is more of a legistics person.  Director of Counseling is not really a good title for what he does.  He more manages the counseling department.  HLA should have licensed therapist doing the supervision of their counselors.  I am not sure they do at this point or not.

He has a masters degree in counseling.  He is qualifies to do that.  Also, in the parent workshops he gives parenting advice.  He doesn't do therapy.

There is still nothing illegal or unethical about it as long as he is in communication with a licensed therapist about what he talks about.  I know that everyone that participats in the workshop meets after every workshop to discuss what they talked about with famillies.  The clinical supervisors are always at those meetings.

If he has a Masters in Counseling, why does he not have a license?
Was Chris Allen the ony licensed person there?

Why is Holloway not licensed in the State?

Is the State going to insist they get licensed?

Well, maybe these are all mute points, at this venture.  From the financial
end, it is not too sunny there.

Chris Allen was licensed as well as Mike Witherspoon when he was there and Cheryl Clarke who worked at RCI.  I can't think of anyone else.

They don't even offer advanced degrees in counseling of any kind.  No psychology, no sociology, no social work.

Do I smell another...phony?

Perhaps this is why he's not licensed?  Because he has no degree?
