TEEN CHALLENGE HAS A PARENTAL RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT!
This excerpt is taken from page 17 of this Teen Challenge Application: http://http://www.mntc.org/pdf/LC_Adolescent.pdf
PARENTAL RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT
"I/We, ______________________________________, parent(s), guardian(s), or conservator(s) of _____________________________, a minor child born on _______________, hereby agree that he/she can enroll in Minnesota Teen Challenge Academy (MTCA), a 12-month Christian residential rehabilitative program. I/We further agree that I/we relieve MTCA, its Staff, Employees, Students, and Board Members from any responsibility or liability for any damages to him or his property during his residence at MTCA or during any related travel and/or activities. I/We also agree to release, hold harmless, and relinquish all rights to pursue any cause of action whatsoever against MTCA, its Staff, Employees, Students, and Board Members if a student voluntarily leaves MTCA or for any damages incurred during his/her residence."
*Why would Teen Challenge require a parent to sign this? This is absurd!!! This truly opens the door to exploitation, mistreatment, and abuse!!!
sick of child torture girl:
its not just abusrd its ilegal...you cant be devoided of responsibility for a child you have under your care against their will. It wont hold up in court its a scare tactic meant to shoo away potential litigants
Firebird81:
Obviously, Karly is not a parent. If she were, she would know that parental liability release forms are used by every school in the country when your kid is going to be taken on a field trip. They are used by summer camps, church youth groups going on mission trips, basically any organization that would have to take temporary custody of your child for any reason.
Karly:
You call Teen Challenge's 12-18 month stay "temporary" custody? You need your head examined!

Uh, yes, 12 to 18 months out of a lifetime of 70 to 80 years would be considered temporary. But, that's not my point. My point is that any time a parent turns their hild over to any agency, whether it be a school for a field trip , summer camp, 6th grade camp, little league baseball or 8th grade washington DC trip, they must sign a parental release form virtually just like that one.
