I'm not quite sure what. The site was down for 15 minutes.

Wouldn't it be nice if we got Slashdotted or Digged?

Slashdot and Digg are huge sites. Using their names as verbs means that so many visitors came to Fornits from their sites, that our server can't handle the bandwidth.

This, of course, would be awesome, as we'd have an instant (if largely temporary) army of the horrified and pissed off.

So what causes the site to be so dang slow sometimes? It hung for 30-45 seconds today & that "download .php" prompt came up, which I of course cancelled (I use Mozilla.)

At first it looks like the post won't hit, but it appears after a refresh. (This happens enough to where I've got it down to a science...)
-Thanks

It usually happens at night. Our webhost is seriously overloaded sometimes, for reasons that have nothing to do with Fornits (if they did, I'd know it). There's a whole lot of other sites on that machine, and the server's CPU and memory just can't handle it.

Given that there is typically only one half to one and a half dozen users online at a time, can anyone explain what was going on when:
