I'm attempting to get a job right across the street from my house. Now how is that for saving money and energy? Things were going quite well, I did well at the interview. The manager seems quite nice and a bit like me. Then I took a math test - about second grade level mostly to see if I could make change which I can. Then I had to take one of those stupid tests where they say you can't "pass or fail." You know the ones "I definitely agree" "I strongly" agree etc. then the reverse? Well, apparently I didn't answer some of the questions strongly enough in the direction they wished, so now I have to discuss the answers with the manager to make sure I understood them. The thing basically wants to know if I do/or support illegal drugs or support someone I knew was doing them, if I steal or would cover for someone who did, and if I can follow directions and submit gracefully to authority...
For cry-eye I'm a substitute teacher. I've been finger printed and background checked. I don't smoke, I don't drink (no not even socially) and I don't do recreational drugs. How dangerous can I be? I've worked for the schools for five years without incident, and no complaints from any teacher I've subbed for, that I'm aware of, or Principals in whose buildings I've worked. And this is a convenience store/gas station.
My only comfort, before going in to explain my apparently anti-social answers, is a couple of the girls that work there told me people have failed that test and still gotten jobs there, so I hope all goes well. If I get through this satisfactorily the next step is peeing in a cup which shouldn't be a problem, but cripes who knows at this point?
