Family members trying to interfere in me and my son's lives.
« on: September 16, 2006, 03:02:26 PM »
Hi everyone. I am so glad a found this site to find support. I want to thank Ginger Warbis for giving a voice to those who are struggling with their children.Well, my situation is that my son is currently enrolled in a TBS and my family is constantly asking to go visit him in the program. I was not sure what to do so I consulted with the program director. We made a joint decision for him to have only me visit him for the duration of his stay at the program. My question for you guys is how do I get my family members to stop pestering me about visitig him without causing a family conflict?

If this is a troll, screw off!

If not, your family should be able to see the child.

From A START

We recommend that you beware of residential programs that:
Restrict youth & family rights in
terms of:
? Contact with family by phone, mail
and in person (for example, no phone
contact or visits for first month;
censored mail; monitored visits with
no opportunities for parent/child
discussion in private)

Troll or not, from the "pestering" side of that question, family should have contact.  Now I'm off to brood over my own lack of contact.
