If there was a hell I'd surely be going for falling out of my chair laughing when I read this.

MIRACLE IS SUNK

A PRIEST has died after trying to demonstrate how Jesus walked on water.

Evangelist preacher Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could repeat the biblical miracle.

But he drowned after walking out to sea from a beach in the capital Libreville in Gabon, west Africa.

One eyewitness said: "He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus.

"He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat.

"He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head and he never came back."

Bit pompous of him to think he could do what Peter couldn't - even though Peter was an eye witness and Had Jesus standing on the water with him.

Wonder if Peter is thumping the pastor upside his head - asking what made him think he had more faith than Peter had had?

Still - as foolish and prideful as his act seems to have been - he was trying to please his Maker - and is doubtless being comforted and assured all is forgiven.

Except maybe by Peter - who also had problems with the notion of forgiveness. But perhaps by now, he has gotten better at it.

If we're gonna talk bible:
Jesus said, all these things I do, you can do, and more.
Now why would the powers that be work so hard to convince the masses otherwise?
Seems if you're going to take anything biblical seriously, you'd certainly stick to what the man had to say.

Maybe the priest just wanted an audience for his planned suicide. Or was so humiliated by his failed attempt that he couldn't walk back out of the water and face his congretation. Somewhere around 6' he should've noticed he was breathing water.

Or maybe he just thought the jig was just about up and faked his own death like this guy http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4564226.stm

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to use the net and he won't bother you for weeks!

Or he just wanted to die and was too embarassed to tell everyone. How many accidental deaths are actually suicides, but the people don't want their family and friends to know they copped out early? I wonder about that sometimes...

Deb - He also said :  If you believe and do not doubt - if you have faith - an so on. I believe He knows this is true. But also, that very few of us can overcome our understanding of the natural world to have the faith needed. There are also many warnings about the danger of pride.

I do wonder why, as he found he was walking along the sea bed, he didn't say - well today I don't have the faith I need to do this - and go back. Maybe a rip-tide got him.

I don't think it was a suicide. I can see a person arranging an accident of some sort, in the hope that it wouldn't be recognized as a suicide - but to walk out into the sea in front of many witnesses doesn't seem like a very good plan. What if they had gone in after him?

The whole thing strikes me as pitiful and sad.

Nun tries to murder cheating priest

Nun tried to kill priest after finding him in bed with another woman

Last updated at 15:55pm on 13th September 2006

A jealous nun appeared in court charged with threats to kill and an arson attack on a priest's house - after she caught him in bed with a married woman.

Sister Silvia Gomes De Sousa, 39, saw red and set fire to Father Carmelo Mantarro's house after she nabbed him 'in flagrante.'

The furious nun - who was also Father Carmelo's cleaner - was also armed with a machete and threatened to kill the priest before being restrained by passers by.

Police and fire officials were quickly on the scene and managed to put out the flames which had been started by sister De Sousa using matches and candles on curtains and furniture.

The drama happened in the sleepy Italian village of Roccalumera near Messina on the island of Sicily and was the talk of the nation as it dominated TV and radio news programmes.

The saucy goings on were made even more interesting by father Carmelo's age - he is 70 years old - and is said to have been sleeping with both sister De Sousa and the other woman for several months.

At the court hearing Sister De Sousa also claimed to have had two abortions as a result of having unprotected sex with Father Carmelo and also showed several love letters from him.

She told the hearing: "I just flipped when I came to the house and caught him in bed with another woman who is married.

"We had been together four years and I had even had two abortions because of him."

Judge Antonino Giacobello freed sister De Sousa - who is accused of threats to kill and arson - on bail and adjourned the case until next month.
