Oh, that explains it.  I don't remember Wes ever saying that his son was dead.  I remember him saying that he was in a mental institution but not dead.  When did that happen?

Have you ever spoken with Wes?  Have you ever asked him about this or are you just going off of the ramblings of others?  MIght be a good idea to find out things for yourself and form opinions of your own instead of just latching onto someone else's rant du jour.

I don't know if Fager lied about his son being dead, it could have been as simple as him having said "attempted" and the listener thinking he said "committed".. As far as the other allegations about Wes playing fast and loose with the truth, or even maliciously, coldly and calculaterdly deceiving others for his own nefarious shemes, I do not know one way or the other.

I think thestraights.com, while having lots of really good information, could use some streamlining and editing.  It has the in-your-face look of a supermarket tabloid, and is really chaotic and disorderly.  Although there is a wealth of information, documents, survivor testamonies, expert opinions and observations, news clippings, etc. that provide pertinent information to anyone who wnats to research Straight and other abuses institutions and those who were victimized by them, and those who ran them.  I think it really needs a makeover and some editorial standards.  A great idea, not so great on the execution.
