Coalitition Against Institutionalized Child Abuse (CAICA)
« Reply #15 on: July 10, 2006, 05:07:00 PM »
Remember the snakeoil salesmen who used to roll into town pitching their "miracle" cure to any fool who would listen?

What's changed?

Same thing going on everyday on the Internet and these not-for-prime-time infomercials (2-5 a.m.) selling miracle eye cream and thigh masters.

The troubled teen industry is a goldmine for people looking to make some easy money from an easy mark (parents).  That's not going to change even with regulations.  You can't legislate ethics or morality.  All you can do is hope there are more "white hats" than black.

I can only repeat what has been said:

Isabelle aligning herself and CAICA with Sue Scheff and PURE is very confusing.

It has been pointed out time and time again that Sue Scheff/Pure refers children to abusive programs for MONEY.

Sue Scheff has been supportive of the Sudweeks throughout the investigation for criminal child abuse, and continued to refer children to Whitmore Academy while the Sudweeks were being investigated for criminal child abuse.
Sue Scheff continues to support Cheryl Sudweeks as she awaits a criminal trial for abusing 4 children while they were enrolled at Whitmore Academy.

Isabelle's words that "Sue Scheff assits parents and offers resources to make better choices," seem empty, and raise many questions.

People have asked if Isabelle is going into the referral business, herself? Perhaps this is why the question has been asked over and over: Is CAICA a non-profit OR NOT?  This question has never been answered. Nor has Isabelle revealed the member of her Board of Directors--if she does in fact even have a Board of Directors.

It appears that the almost constant NEW RELEASES of Sue Scheff's "friends" lately- seems to cause more conflict than they actual "INFORM anything actually newsworthy" in my opinion.

Even Isabelle should realize that professional Educational Consultants do not accept referral fees or payments from programs for "referring/sending clients to a program."  Sue Scheff is paid directly by the programs; which is considered an unethical practice by Educational Consultants.

Isabelle uses the words "ASSIST and OFFERS" when describing the services that Sue Scheff provides.
This appears to be misleading to the public. Isabelle well-knows that Sue Scheff is paid, and paid well for the services she provides.

There are a lot of unaswered questions, still.

I've read evidence that supports that claim very well. Same for CAICA. I have since removed PURE and CAICA from the "Resources for parents" section of my website as a result.

My point with the Jesus anaology was that HE does not ask anything of us that HE himself has not already experienced.

I think Isabelle and Sue should experience the product they are 'selling' to parents firsthand,  BEFORE SELLING IT!!

Christ suffered at the hands of HIS own people for greed.  My Michelle died at the hands of her own people for greed.  Through my experience in HOW Michelle died, I received my own personal witness of what our Savior Jesus Christ suffered.

I know in my heart that HE would not approve of what is happening to children in these programs.

Please do not use the name of my Lord and Savior in vain.

Oh, I see.

And no, I didnt use it in vain just then. I tend to when I wonder why the same people who shout it to sell themselves, and their ideas and services hurt so many people, who themselves cry out in vain for help at the hands of those very people who claim to carry out his work.

:-? and please dont give me a lecture, save it for those who are actually hurting those kids. I dont care to entertain it.

My best (and cynical) guess is Izzy is just getting in on the same racket Sue is - trying to gain credibility by being open about the fact that abuse happens, then selling themselves as people who can 'figure it out for you' (and still say the programs are effective at all, even essential in some cases!) to make a buck, but then not even go through with your own words and send them to whoever sends a referral kickback.

Thankfully, with the likes of us flabbering about it non stop, she shouldnt fool TOO many people. Unfortunately even one kid getting fucked up in a program is far too many.

Ex-KidsPeace counselor admits to sex with teen
He will be sentenced in October on charges from incident at North Whitehall facility.
By Debbie Garlicki Of The Morning Call
A former KidsPeace counselor who had sex with a 16-year-old resident of the North Whitehall Township facility for troubled youths pleaded guilty Wednesday to institutional sexual assault and corruption of a minor.

Jerry J. McChristian, 34, who no longer works at the youth home, told the judge that he was ''pushed'' into having sex with the girl in August.

Lehigh County Judge Robert L. Steinberg asked him what he meant. McChristian, of 2106 S. Lumber St., Allentown, mumbled an inaudible response.

Steinberg noted that McChristian was an adult and the girl was a child and asked McChristian why he did not reject alleged advances by a teen girl who wouldn't have been at the facility if she didn't already have problems.

Whether or not the sex was consensual, the judge said, McChristian was over 18 and the girl was under 18 and having sex with her was an act that would corrupt a minor.

After Senior Deputy District Attorney Matthew Falk outlined the prosecution's case, the judge askedMcChristian whether or not he had sex with the girl. McChristian didn't answer and appeared reluctant to speak.

Steinberg told him that if he didn't want to plead guilty, a trial would be scheduled.

''I don't want a wishy-washy response from you,'' Steinberg told McChristian.

He asked McChristian again whether he engaged in inappropriate acts with the girl.

''I was pushed into it,'' said McChristian, who is free on bail. He was represented by attorney Michael Brunnabend of Allentown.

Falk said that on Aug. 10, the girl asked a KidsPeace staff member if she could make a telephone call. The girl got permission, and McChristian escorted her into a conference room where she made a call.

McChristian and the girl then had sex on the floor, Falk said. The girl reported the incident to someone at KidsPeace, who called state police.

Authorities tested evidence on a carpet in the conference room and found that DNA from the carpet matched McChristian's DNA, according to Falk.

Falk said he explained the negotiated plea to the victim, who is expected to testify at McChristian's sentencing hearing on Oct. 12.

The prosecution and defense agreed to a binding sentence of probation for the charge of institutional sexual assault, which is a third-degree felony. There was no agreement on the sentence McChristian will get for the corruption of a minor charge and no agreement on whether the sentences for the two charges will run consecutively or concurrently.

Corruption of minors carries a maximum sentence of 21/2 to five years in prison.

----------

Question for Isabelle - Are you aware that Kids Peace is a program PURE refers to according to the WWASPS v. PURE transcripts you have on your own website?

Does PURE still refer to Kids Peace?  What do you know about this program Kids Peace?  Any other news articles parents should be aware of?
